I had never noticed Vega until Fargo where he was the 9th seed and won. When I saw him at WNO and Super 32's I thought boy this kid looks really good and was disappointed he was committed to Cornell. Real good things are happening with recruiting with Staff flipping Vega, Robideau and Routledge. Really excited about Vega and Robideau. I think Routledge is tough but not much offense. Will our coaches be able to develop offense for him? Add Lockett ( the super recruit) and Ramirez, our 2025 recruiting class is something else. The you add the transfers, quite the start for our staff. Now 2026 if we get Jax and Mocco added to Rocklin Zinkin that would be quite the quality class to add to our super 2025 class. If we are developing our kids at a high level, we may compete with Penn. St soon. I will soon see our team and the development hopefully is seen this year!
Great get guys. Some random thoughts...
1. DT has been your coach for five months. I think he's already proven that his recruiting/selling skills are top notch. If you don't get a guy, it won't be because David didn't do his best.
2. This is one of the values of having a RTC. I have to believe that bringing in RBY helped grease the wheels of this flip. For those who don't know, RBY and Vega attended the same HS, so RBY is probably a hero of Vega's.
3. Yianni needs to stop taking things personally. It's a bad look. It's just business. There is a world of difference imo to recruiting a committed kid versus a signed kid. Nothing unethical or wrong in going after a committed kid. In fact, I'd think less of a coach if he stopped trying.
4. You guys are developing a salty team that will be competitive for national titles in 3-4 years. Remember, Vega may not step on the mat for 3 years.
