NCAA’s Day 2

Damn what was wrong with Fix? Looked slow and not into it.

Give it up to Cornell. They look good.

Maybe he was looking too far ahead idk. Was walking right into Vito’s takedowns. Some of the worst I’ve seen him wrestle. Once again, his struggles are all mental!!

Wasn’t moving feet. A statue. No offense vs longer elite guys unfortunately and have never seen him scored on like that. And I really like Fix.

Kyle Dake came on the matcast and was talking about how he's been working with the Penn St guys and said a lot of really great thing coaching insight and wrestler mentality wise. I honestly think someone like Dake would be perfect for the job but he obviously has more international wrestling ahead of him. It just goes to show you why PSU guys are so good because they have multiple top world wrestlers helping them out personally on a daily basis.

Also, I don't think Pop is the best choice. We need someone younger (Dake) who can connect with the guys and who is constantly evolving in their craft just like the sport is constantly evolving. Burroughs's isn't the right choice either. There is a major disconnect between Coach Smith and the wrestlers along with the assistant coaches not knowing any different because they have only been in this program. The results has gotten ridiculous and continue to get worse ever year. Something different needs to be done along with several changes which we can all agree on. Only problem is we as a collective fan base have no power in those decisions.
Why not Burroughs? You don’t think he would bring top recruits? His resume is better or equal to John’s, and is probably more in touch with todays recruits than anyone else.

Arizona State 133 looks really good too.

Imagine how Iowa feels paying Woods big money to not even win a team title.

Fieldcamp from Clarion at 184 is going to be AA and had Geer in his corner.

No one will touch PSU for at least 2-3 years and likely longer. They have young guys getting it done deep into the rounds.

Anyone been to the OSU event between sessions? I bet the atmosphere there is bad.

Burroughs would of course bring in tons of talent but I have my doubts about him being able to develop them. There is something about listening to the way Dake talks about wrestling and critiquing matches that lets you into his mind a little. Guys like him and Cael are built different. They have the natural ability to see and feel wrestling like not many others.

Oklahoma State is currently in 21st place with 21.5 team points. Penn State has 102.5 team points. The gap between our programs right now is massive and only getting worse if changes aren't made. We have 1.5 more team points than Air Force!!!! Just let that sink in!

We shit the bed, that's why.

Wondered the same.
That does not speak well for the program then. Their dad's must not have much confidence in the program?
Their Fathers were both NCAA Champions at Oklahoma State, So they had confidence to go there themselves, If you are Super Smart An Ivy League Education and Degree helps Immensely and Ok Stant can not compete Academically, Umnoz may have just wanted to go elsewhere, Maybe a Girl Frien is there, Who knows Millions of Reasons

The Mondays and Munoz weren't ranked very high coming out of HS. I think Kennedy Monday was outside the top 100, Quincy Monday was #79 and Trey Munoz was #69. Something interesting though...they were all young for their grade, so maybe they had higher ceilings. All 3 went up in weight too.

Kennedy took his official visit the same weekend as Wyatt. I think the Mondays were living in TX at the time, then moved to FL. Shortly after, Coleman hired Kenny at UNC. Kennedy committed to UNC, but Quincy committed to Princeton. Trey Munoz also took an official visit.

Munoz planned to go to AZ State- loved Pendleton and followed him to Oregon St- dad wanted him to go to OSU, but Trey was comfortable with Pendleton and it was the right fit for him.

The Monday boys went HS in NC- outside Chapel Hill.

Great to see Former and possibly Future President Trump at the NCAA Wrestling Finals enjoying the Matches

I think you mean Quincy Monday. Kennedy wrestled in OK as a frosh, in FL as a soph, and then in TX his junior & senior years (2x TX state champ). Quincy won 2 titles in TX, then the family moved to NC and he won 2 more titles there.

Yes - Quincy Monday went to HS in Chapel Hill area when his brother was wrestling tag NC. I know he graduated there, but was not sure where he started- thanks for clarifying and details.

He could get 1 next year if he goes somewhere else.Between NIL and getting worse the last 2 years I would not be surprised if he wants a new start.
