Years ago, we stopped the family car at Meramec Caverns just to say we've been there. Toward the end of the tour, we entered a room where a waterfall cascaded down the formations. They seated us to watch a waving American flag video projected into the waterfall while a Kate Smith recording played 'God Bless America'.
When it was over, my boys and I looked at each other with the look on our faces like, "Well, that was corny". As the crowd departed, we were the last to leave the room just as some guy reached into the rocks and turned off a water spigot. The spigot handle went "squeak, squeak, squeak" as the waterfall slowly died down to a trickle.
The price of admission suddenly became worth every penny.
