Several things for you to consider:David, I'm sure you have been around 24/7 pol long enough to know that I do not moderate it at all, by design. I generally don't post here and don't read all that often. I do believe having a board where people can discuss politics has some value...otherwise there wouldn't be such a board. However, me interjecting my personal brand of politic (whatever that may be) by moderating or posting is generally a bad idea.
As it pertains to this thread, I've read it but still don't feel I have a good handle on what the problem is. From the outside looking in on one thread, it looks to me that PDT has offered an explanation of his reasoning, as well as possible solutions (unlocking a thread, merging threads, etc.)
First, publish criteria for what gets a thread locked, what gets someone banned, what gets a post deleted, etc. I am quite sure posting some redundant crap to something 3 pages deep in another thread won't be on that list.
Second, pin the guidelines. If a mod locks a thread, deletes a post, boots someone they need to specifically refer to the reason.
Third, you don't have to post your opinions to occasionally look in here and make sure the mods aren't being a bunch of asshats.
Finally, you have to consider if someone incapable of a mea culpa should be repping the OSI brand.
