I think it's going to be a battery system for use with solar/wind.

There's some video/news on a guy who took a wrecked Tesla and fashioned a home storage device from it's batteries and components. From what I understand, Musk has plans to produce something similar. But I thought this was kind of "old news" so it may be something completely new of which I am unaware.

They exist already, but they typically use deep-cycle marine batteries and aren't that great. What is hoped is that some of these "newer" battery technology would produce a much better (efficient) system for that purpose with extended life, less heat production, quicker charging, etc.
