I finally found Ballast Point in my local store (Duncan). Got the Grapefruit Sculpin and I'm a fan...great summer beer for sure.

I also picked up Founders Doom. Strong shit...good...not an everyday beer for sure.

Went with some Lagunitas Sucks to change up from Little Sumpin Sumpin.

My store had a 12 pack can of Dogfish 60 minute IPA. Didn't get it, but didn't know it came in cans.

It was a hot weekend...ready to leave Oklahoma.

OP, one day you can come and join us at the adult table and we can have a discussion about bourbons and whiskeys.

God bless you.
Just got to detox every once in awhile.

The upside is I just got the e-mail informing me that my first allotment of Beers from The American Solera Societywill be waiting for me right after. An ale refermented with balaton cherries.

If you aren't familiar with American Solera, it's the brewery that Chase Healey started after he sold Prairie Artisan Ales. On the site of the old Prairie Brewery.

Mostly sours and other Belgian styles, pretty much all barrel aged or fermented.

Scored some Bells Two Hearted IPA and some Ballast Point Sculpin IPA recently. Also got some Beatnik Exile Sour which is very , very good!

I'm headed to Michigan Saturday...pretty excited. Will be driving up to my family's place which is on Lake Michigan.

What should I look for that isn't available in Oklahoma?

Buy a bunch of Hopslam and divey them out to us upon your return. We will pay.

Dark Horse - you should go to Marshall and visit if you have time, really a cool place. Scotty Karate is my favorite of theirs, but they usually have cool stuff on tap at their restaurant.

New Holland - again visit if you can; it's also a distillery and their taproom in downtown Holland is a really cool place. Holland us right on the lake. Beers: Dragon's Milk, possibly my favorite Stout. Monkey King is really good too.

Grand Rapids is the place to go. Lots of breweries and cool bars. If you can ONLY ho to one taproom go to Founders. It's a huge wonderful place with multiple bars and seating areas, indoor and out. You should know most of the Founders beers but they'll have some different stuff in tap and the food is really good.

A smaller plac that is awesome in Grand Rapids is Brewery Vivant. It's in an old chapel and still retains a big stained glass window. Lots of Fench & Belgian farmhouse and sour styles. It's about a mile to two from Founders.

Bells is in Kalamazoo and is also a pretty cool taproom. Two Hearted Ale is one of the greatest American Pales there is.

I love Holland...we drive through it on the way there. We are a couple more hours up the coast...not real close to anything but may try to run back down one day while I'm out there.

Perhaps unpopular but...

Midwest >> California > Colorado

And Florida is getting close to moving in front of CO.

Explain to me again why we don't get some of the top beers in Ok?
A lot of times because the brewer chooses to not come to OK. I know that was the case for Odell as of summer 2015. Could be because of certain laws, could be because they don't have brewing capacity to expand to OK (vs a more lucrative market), could be because they can't find an acceptable distributor.

With the recent law changes we've seen a steady influx of brands (Dogfish Head, Ballast Point, New Belgium, Oskar Blues, Founders before that). When the law allowing refrigeration in liquor stores kicks in in Oct. 2018, we probably get some more new brands.

I could swear I have bought Odells IPA in State but maybe I bought it just over the line in KS.

Just had bells two hearted ale in Pittsburgh last night. First time. It's perfect.

While in Michigan, I drank several Two Hearted on the beach. Huge fan...needs to come to Oklahoma.

I've been going through Ballast Point lately. I've not generally been a fan of fruity beers, but the Pineapple and grapefruit sculpins are amazing.

Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. Lemon and grapefruit.

The lemon was decent but wouldn't do the grapefruit again.

Nice change up but neither would ever enter my standard rotation.

Been hitting Ballast Point Sculpin, Two Hearted, Beatnik Sour for a few weeks. I just picked up some Boulevard Berliner Weisse which is great!!! Also got some DH 60 min IPA and some Rogue Dead Guy ale which I enjoyed.

American Solera Bright Black Delight
American Solera Little Foo
American Solera Preacher's Seat
American Solera Balaton Key
Dogfish Head Sea Quench

Yesterday evening I went to the Wild Brew fundraiser. Tons of great food samples from local restaurants. Quite a bit of very good to great beers but the turnout for breweries was much less than in previous years. I did enjoy some beers by two local brewers that are both still in search of their own brewery facility/taproom.

The first, Eerie Abbey, brews all Belgian styles. Their quad was decent, but seemed a little watery and there wasn't enough maltiness for me. Their tripel was really good however, and I generally am not a huge tripel fan. They also had a Saison that was quite good. And some tasty chocolate chip cookies baked with hops as well.

The other brewery, Nothng's Left, brews at Anthem in OKC and is looking for a place in South Tulsa. They had a very tasty Watermelon Gose and a well above average chocolate milk stout.
