I could be wrong (I frequently am), but it is my understanding most of the minerals being discussed are in territory currently occupied by Russia. Also most of the minerals are already legally “owned”/contracted by private industry. Last, Russia can nix any deal signed by Zelensky as he’s no longer a legitimate president. Trump needed this deal to create leverage with Russia. Having an economic deal with Ukraine for rare earth minerals is important to the future of the U.S, it CREATES a true financial security interest for the U.S. that is far more important than we will defend Ukraine just because we have to. That is not a good reason and you can always change your mind. Joining NATO, not needed now for US support. Trump just smarter than stupid Dims or anyone else that does not understand mutual partnerships that make a country stronger financially is more meaningful than military alliances.

This creates skin in the game for the US. The fact it took Zelensky this long to figure this out is surprising. Ukraine needs help to mine these minerals, and the US can help in this area. This is a great off ramp for Ukraine. You stop the death and destruction, and the U.S. just gave you an economic commitment to help restore your country and to raise the standard of living in your country. I was predicting this a few days ago and why it was an important first step.

One other prediction that will make Dims wail. Trump is going to give Russia a similar off ramp. Not sure what it looks like, but the U.S. will do something economically to benefit both Russia and the U.S. Again, no more Russians dying and a better economic future. These deals need to be a win/win for lasting peace. The goal here is to also push Russia away from China's influence, and if a war between China and the US breaks out, at a minimum we want Russia neutral. That is moving pieces on the chess board and real diplomacy.

Of course if you are living in a WW2 mentality, you want death and destruction and WW3.

Nice assessment. I violently agree with your points. I'd like to add a few reasons why it is necessary to get the good guys into Ukraine. It is currently the global HQ of child trafficking, illicit gain of function laboratories & a gargantuan money laundering operation that has stripped out ~85% of the monies congress sent to Zalensky for the "war effort".

Last count I got was that 8-Ukranian generals lost their million(s) dollar mansions in the LA fires. The Biden involvement is de facto & just waiting to be further exposed. The criminals need war like a bedouin needs water. The money flow just through the defense contracts which is kicked back is huge.

Nobody despised the USSR as much as I did pre-Reagan. If you have never heard how Reagan got Gorbachev to "tear down that wall" you need to look it up. The real truth will not be easy to find but it involved a huge amount of $$.

The Rams had a market cap of ~$12MM. That's the mechanics of how Reagan dealt with Gorbachev.

Trump not only wants to stop wars, he wants beneficial economic activity to benefit the peace makers.
