How in the world did he politicize the military? He gave a brief history lesson of each branch (I learned quite a bit last night), some of the famous people associated with each branch and some of the greater moments from each branches history, along with their continued efforts on behalf of both domestic and foreign assignments. Did you think that the display was also an abject lesson that if you screw with us you get the horns?
Promise if you look back at Eisenhower, Kennedy and any other president that had a military backdrop, not a word was mentioned about the event being "political." Not only that he appealed to young Americans to join the military after espousing the history of the military. Bet if you poll service members they would overwhelming approve of the history lesson and display.......promise you nearly every kid in a public school system doesn't get such a concise lesson.
I know you don't like the guy, which is fine but it was more than a history lesson. It was a synopsis on why we (all Americans) are unique, have an infinite array of opportunities to be successful, are the greatest republic ever, have overcome amazing obstacles to get to and remain on top and so many other things. Contrast that to the Georgetown professor who compared the Betsy Ross flag to Swastikas. Just amazing how off the edge some of the left is about DJT.
Good post. The screw with us you get the horns is an important portion of your post. If there is a criticism of the President that has largely become a false narrative and a classic example of fear mongering is "he's going to get us into a war!" The jury is still out on the Iran situation, however, he's responded with non-violent tactics after calling off a strike and implementing sanctions. Yesterday was a friendly reminder of just how kick-ass we have been (and still are, so don't mess with us) when it comes to defending freedom. Largely, that freedom has come from superior technology, innovation, and outworking our enemies...that is something to be proud of.
Call me crazy but I'd rather a president show off his fancy toys in a non-violent (on our country's birthday) instead of dropping MOABs and sending in our troops.
