Also cheerleaders get a really bad rap on this board. I really don’t get why. I understand your commitment to be declared as a cheerleader and I respect that. But in my experience at every game I’ve ever been to half the cheerleaders supported the team that won and a half supported the team lost so being a cheerleader doesn’t automatically call your credibility into question does it? if a politician earns my respect I root for them.
I realize confirmation bias is a factor for everyone. but I think it’s possibly not the only thing that factors in to the amalgamation of news I absorb.
It’s really not that hard to wait. Pretty much the entirety of “discussion of current events” without waiting is primarily nothing more than conjecture, speculation, and wishful thinking expressed as certain truth by its proponents IMO.
Cheerleaders don’t cheer for their team based upon a rational analysis of the facts, so yeah “cheerleading” by it’s very nature calls credibility into question and indicates a bias/desire for things to be a certain way (their team to win) rather than evaluating how things actually are. Respecting a politician for what s/he has DONE isn’t “cheerleading” as I use the term. No longer rationally critically analyzing what that politician does or the circumstances they are faced with in the future because you now root for them is.
