Trump Judge: If juries get it wrong, I can overrule them based on my emotions about the case

While this judge is clearly a leftist judicial activist what he said is not legally wrong, judges do have the authority to overturn a jury's verdict. While he is correct the way his words came across make it sound wrong. What is either missing from the video or what the judge did not say this action is very rare.
If you notice FOX or whoever is putting this out is not saying he's wrong, they are putting it out their knowing it sounds nefarious. In simpler terms, they know people do not know the law and are using the video to push their preferred narrative this is better known as propaganda. Fortunately some of us are smart enough to recognize it, not be manipulated by it and move on.
In any trial the judge is the ultimate decision maker and has the power to overturn a jury verdict if there is insufficient evidence to support that verdict or if the decision granted inadequate compensatory damages. The term used to describe this action is judgement notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV) or judgement of acquittal in a criminal case.
