The real reason behind the Government Shutdown?

I'm guessing you didn't read the post before applying your greasy dick beaters to the keyboard. Stop "just sayin" and use your 27 ACT brain occasionally.

1) I’ll pose another, more general question then...in what way is attending a political march (with the inevitable unintended consequences) representing their school in a “learning capacity”? Pushing the pro-life agenda isn’t a forum for education...it’s a forum for regurgitation of echo chamber talking points and hypocrisy. Case in point...the Catholic Church’s ongoing copious scandals concerning rape and child abuse...and then we get “it’s not rape if you enjoy it”. What education do you truly believe these kids received beyond the tragic, yet real occurrence of doxing (somehow Candace Owens’s experience in this endeavor is immune to scrutiny by the right...just one of the many reasons she’s an idiot).

2) Your desperate necessity to regurgitate the ACT is a symptom of your lack of impulse control. And your memory is still shitty lol...27, 27, 29.

If you don't understand the educational value of going to the nation's capital and participating in the democratic process, there's zero I can do to help you. Sorry.

I don’t see what you think these kids learned. They could’ve phoned their congressmen and women or wrote a letter to the Supreme Court Justices and potentially achieved far more than they did in DC. The democratic process doesn’t necessarily educate you if you’re stuck in an echo chamber.

Now...if Trump had extended an invitation to both the students and Mr. Phillips to the White House to create a constructive dialogue, that would be a victory of the democratic process. As it is, he will invite only the kids to prop them up as heroes...which they ain’t...by any means.

Agree to disagree ***shrugs shoulders***

Yeah, like I said, I can't help. I visited both the state capital and DC several times on school trips when I was in high school. We participated in just about every imaginable activity going on in the capital except prostitution, gang violence, and smoking crack with the DC mayor.

Henry Bellman fell asleep on our group while we were there. So I have that at least. It isn't crack... but, what is?

It’s all about respect both ways which is sorely missing.

No one is your enemy as an American citizen if they simply disagree with you politically! The entrenchment into respective camps is the problem and the intolerance of different points of view where we simply stop listening to each other.

Obviously, since no one is right all the time about anything they sure as hell aren’t in their political beliefs! The problem is getting folks to put down their torches and pitchforks, metaphorically of course, to simply listen to each other. If we did, the Fox News and MSNBCs of the world wouldn’t exist to stoke partisanship division that helps their bottom lines!

I agree with some Trump stances but disagree on many more. That’s just me. I suspect there are many just like me but they may agree with more Trump policies and less more progressive ideas I favor. Doesn’t make us enemies! It makes us Americans and that though messy, should be celebrated because we have checks and balances to hold various ideologies accountable!

You skipped Union Station?
Of course not. It had just reopened the year before my first trip. We did peek at a nearby neighborhood. It wasn't a place that seemed friendly, even during the daytime.

Yeah, we've discussed this before. I think we were in the same close-up group. 1988?

I was in youth in government...again, I don’t see the learning in wearing a MAGA hat and taunting an Indigenous People’s March.

Agree to disagree

Twice in the last week the House GOP tried to get a bill passed which would pay the gov't workers while they were on not working (different from the bill to pay them upon their return). Both times the dems rejected it.

Dems don't care. Just using gov't workers as pawns. Similar to how they use minorities for votes every two years then cast them aside.

Dems passed that resolution HR28. You are being lied to

House Joint Res - 28 was to reopen the government. It was not to pay the employees while the government is shut down which is what the GOP tried to pass twice getting 6 dem votes the first try and 10 dem votes the second.

Check again. The vote that only got 6 dem votes was to recommit HR 28 to committee and instruct the committee to strike February 28, 2019 and replace it with January 15, 2019.

If the GOP wants those workers to get paid all they have to do is convince their colleagues in the Senate to pass HR28.

And if Democrats want those workers paid all they have to do is vote for a bill that provides funding for border barriers, something many of them have done in the past.

Yep, we'll see how it goes
Serious question, if the roles were reversed, would you trust Republicans to actually negotiate on funding for additional border barriers if Democrats gave in and funded the portion of government that's closed?

Probably not since they couldn't get it done when they had majorities in both chambers

Misleading, but also very true. They didn't have 60 in the Senate.

Given the Democrat leadership's commitment to #resist, do you think Democrats would actually negotiate if the Republicans and Trump reopen the government without border barrier funding?

I think they would, but would drive a very hard bargain
