Just how many does Trump get to replace this term? Could he get 2 more retirements in Thomas and Alito?

They have to retire this upcoming election period.

Hopefully both Alito and Thomas put the protection of the Constitution above their person and Trump nominates 2 more originalist to the bench.

Thomas, 76. Alito 74. Roberts, 69. Louisiana does not permit judges to seek election/re-election if they will turn 75 during upcoming term. I think they should all consider retirement rather than risking sudden death during some future democrat presidency.

Clarence Thomas is tied with Scalia as the best two Justices of my lifetime. Thomas is my personal favorite. He is probably irreplaceable. But yes he needs to step down in 2027 . I would hope he works with Trump to find someone who thinks like him and Scalia.

As has been said, the only thing Trump can probably do over the next four years is maintain the current balance and replacing current staunch conservatives with someone equally conservative, which will be difficult.
