Sure are a lot of total outsiders in this new administration.
This is a strong, for the troops pick. His presence alone will get woke generals to resign or retire. If they don't he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who will not tolerate decent in any of ranks. You don't like it leave. The military is going to be a must watch over the next couple years.
I would think the troops would love this pick, knowing they have one of their on in leadership. With the way the Biden Administration treated them like shit this has got to be a huge moral booster. As long as Hegseth is smart enough to know what he doesn't know and listens to those that do, this should bee a great pick.

It doesn't surprise me to see the AF as the branch that is out front on the DEI initiatives forced on the armed forces. I look forward to seeing Hegseth get this straightened out and turn the AF back into a fighting force and not a social experiment. The AF can be one of the US's greatest military assets, when it is allowed to have thier airman become professional war fighters.

No, but they are most likely the the branch that embraced DEI the most. I don't know for sure but I do know they embraced being a social experiment before Obama was even in the WH.

I'll take your word for it. I don't think any branch was left untouched. The secretary of defense will have his work cut out for him, and will have to replace or eliminate positions of a lot of top brass, and then work your way down. However, I do think if you change our the officers you will get the change you need.

Trump floating DeSantis as Hegseth's replacement is genius. They couldn't deny DeSantis and he would be as effective if not more effective at destroying the BS in the DOD.
The louder the libs scream about Hegseth, the more dangerous he is to them.
And now we know this is a completely BS story fabricated by a couple of RINO Senators.
Which means they likely talked to DeSantis before talking to the WSJ. Even if they didn't, DeSantis knows Trump hasn't talked to him about the position, yet he hasn't made a public statement denyin the story.
Cause he doesn't want to piss off the RINOs. DeSantis is an even bigger snake in the grass than McConnell.
Why would DeSantis be expected to be in the loop of what Trump is (or isn't) thinking. He's running Florida. He's not involved in the cabinet discussions. Its very possible that Trump's circle discussed DeSantis without ever actually contacting him. That's the problem with these news stories. DeSantis's name could be from an off-the-cuff comment about who the 'Plan B' candidates might be, and that becomes: "Trump mulls replacing Hegseth with DeSantis." And suddenly, you're up in arms about DeSantis being a RINO because HE didn't come out and deny the report. And suddenly, the media narrative of DeSantis being a RINO becomes real, regardless of all the pro-Conservative policies enacted under his watch in Florida.
So media says Trump is considering DeSantis, Hegseth says Trump told him he has his back.
That means either Trump, Hegseth or the media is lying.
DeSantis could end all this in 30 seconds. Write a tweet that says "I am focused on Florida, I have no interest in any other position and media reports that claim otherwise are wrong. I think Pete Hegseth will be a fine Sec of Def and support his nomination".
That would be the smart play for DeSantis to make. But for whatever reason, when it comes to anything DC, DeSantis becomes a blithering idiot.
I don't disagree with your recommendation. But lumping him as a RINO simply because the media is likely lying seems misplaced.
DeSantis isn't a RINO. But he does let the RINOs manipulate him.
DeSantis wants to be President. Desperately. That's why when Jeb Bush and Karl Rove told him to run against Trump, he thought it was a great idea.
It was the biggest unforced error in political history.
If DeSantis had told Rove and Jeb to fvck off, he would be VP today instead of Vance, and he would be a shoo-in to win the presidency in 2028. With Trump's endorsement.
Instead, he pissed off Trump (Who saved his 2018 campaign by endorsing him), and he pissed off MAGA, and he can't get to the White House without MAGA.
My guess is he will appoint someone to replace Rubio, then run against them for Florida Senator either in 2026 or 2028. Then try to use that to run for President the next cycle.
It will be just as big of a disaster as when he ran in 2024. He finished 3rd behind Nikki Freakin Haley.
He should be Vice President today, and the future of the MAGA movement. But because he got horny and listened to the RINOs, his political career is done. Senator is his ceiling now, and it's his own fault.
