Maybe for the same reasons that it's not advisable to seek shelter from a thunderstorm under a large tree.

This is such a non-story. These same companies donated to Biden's inauguration. Given their effort to at least pretend to be non-partisan, the donations to Trump's inauguration are all but mandatory.

I could care less what "time" the sun comes up. I care when it sets. I am not getting up at 4am to milk the cows. But I for sure will be in the garden/back yard at 8pm in the summer. And I for sure might be out on the road at 5pm in the fall and winter and prefer to still have daylight. I am all for eliminating the change but favor the sunset being at a later "time."

If we are getting gubmint to micromanage then I propose that if DST is abandoned for ST that all first shifts ends at 3pm and anything over that is overtime regardless of hours worked.

My proposal: the sun shall set at 6pm EST in WDC on Dec 21st. All other time zones shall shift accordingly.

Russia has 11-time zones. They used DST until 2014. East/west travel and business is a nightmare as it is, with the DST enabled it was a nightmare.

Out here in the sticks you don't want to be out on the roads when it gets dark at 5pm. The deer and other roadkill critters would probably love a later sun setting time as well. 8pm would suit us all out here in the winter.

'67, your post reminded me of an alternative answer to an old joke that my grandfather used to tell me.

"Why did the chicken cross the road?"

"To prove to the armadillo that it was possible"

We have lived here in far NW OKC since returning from S. Texas. There it was common to see a variety of road kill in the mornings ranging from deer, feral hogs, dogs, opossums, coyotes, rabbits and even the occasional cow. However, I have never seen more dead raccoons, armadillos, opossums & squirrels on the road in the mornings on a daily basis than here.

Our area is infested with indigenous year-round flocks of Canadian geese that cross the main roads in single file at a snail's pace. Most people respect them, some use them for target practice, so there are many of them as well.

Anyway, I am in violent agreement with your post.

OKC used to be the largest city in area in the US. And Jacksonville, FL did some annexing.

I once read about an OKC stiff who drove 64 miles round trip to pay some sort of city tax.

Today OKC is only the eighth largest city in area in the US at 607 sq. miles.
