I love how you excoriate someone for san fran bathhouses in one breath and decry others' "bitterness" in the next, lol. Your fellow booger eater sooner67 was up at 3:26 a.m. ragelaughing at libs. You guys need to back up and do some basic, basic re-evaluation. Or are you holding out that the election can get overturned now?

That is such a weak meaningless clip. All Obama says is that mail in voting needs to be fraud proofed (well, duh) and he gives Oregon’s system as an example. Do you know what an example is?.. The guys preface to the clip is wrong and/or a lie.

One of the most surprising aspects of Trump’s success in the Republican Party to me is that they (of all groups) are willing to tolerate his incessant whiny, sniveling cries of victim-hood. From day one to today. “Waahhhh, the media’s mean to me!! Boohoo, the moderator was unfair. Waaaa they cheated!!” Nonstop; like a 5 year old.
It’s pathetic, and the antithesis of strength and leadership. A total bitch move. Conservatism values character, but yet again, MAGA is not conservative

You say MAGA is not conservative, a statement with which I am in full agreement. However the tenor of your entire post is an attempt to make it sound like conservatives are tied at the hip with MAGA, which is decidedly not the case. There is no reason whatsoever for you attempt to equate MAGA to conservatism, and yet that is precisely what you are doing in this post. You are attempting to have it both ways: you merge MAGA adherents with conservatism and then turn around and say MAGA is not conservative.

In addition you berate Trump for whining that he does not get a fair hearing from the media, as if you think he does. Any rational person who has paid the slightest attention can see that the MSM has spent four+ years doing everything in their power to destroy his reputation. You may not think his complaining is presidential leadership, and you may be right. But presidents are human beings, and after the torrent of vicious hatred that has been directed at Donald Trump, I can’t help but think his whining is a typical human reaction, and justifiably so.

A thoughtful response. Much appreciated. Let me pull out a few points.

“However the tenor of your entire post is an attempt to make it sound like conservatives are tied at the hip with MAGA, which is decidedly not the case.” The underlined portion was certainly inherent to my post. Aren’t the overwhelming percentage of people who consider themselves to be politically conservative also Trump voters? A few may grumble about him, but nonetheless turn out for him in record numbers.

“You are attempting to have it both ways: you merge MAGA adherents with conservatism and then turn around and say MAGA is not conservative.”
I think this might be a misunderstanding. My use of the word MAGA was more or less as a synonym for Trumpism. I’m acknowledging that people who consider themselves conservatives are overwhelmingly MAGA adherents. But my whole point is that Trumpism is philosophically inconsistent with (and frequently opposite of) conservative principles. So, I find it very surprising (and admittedly frustrating) that “conservatives” elected him, much less nominated him against a field of many other actual conservatives. The most extreme example of this is Christian conservatives.

“In addition you berate Trump for whining that he does not get a fair hearing from the media, as if you think he does.”
Some media bias exists, but (1) that’s been true since the invention of the language, (2) it cuts both ways (think Fox or National Review vs PMSNBC or Mother Jones), (3) the supposed bias of many legitimate outlets is greatly exaggerated so as to discredit them and/or simply because it makes one side or the other feel better about their respective position, (4) the existence of some bias does not in any way make it okay to dismiss virtually the entire institution, (4) it’s our job as stakeholders in society to consume it all and try be objective evaluators instead of homers.

“Any rational person who has paid the slightest attention can see that the MSM has spent four+ years doing everything in their power to destroy his reputation.”
I’m sure, on this point at least, we’ll have to agree to disagree, but let me give it a shot. Believe it or not I consider myself rational and I certainly pay the slightest attention, but the overwhelming amount of negative coverage that was taken seriously or of any impact was self inflicted by Trump. Scathing pieces in publications like WSJ, Christianity Today, and National Review were not written because they wanted to destroy the reputation of a Republican president.

“But presidents are human beings, and after the torrent of vicious hatred that has been directed at Donald Trump, I can’t help but think his whining is a typical human reaction, and justifiably so.”
I can acknowledge human frailty, but no President in history has complained, whined and sniveled like Trump. He did it before he even got the nomination and at every step of the way, so it’s not like it just erupted after he couldn’t take it anymore. Furthermore, its not like Lincoln, LBJ, Ford, Cater and W didn’t take some serious heat. A freaking major motion picture or three was made trying to personally humiliate W for goodness sakes.

A person who claims to be conservative is not necessarily one. George Will, a hallowed conservative for decades has been vilified on this very board by Trump supporters. Free markets, an axiomatic principle of conservatism, have been trashed by Trumpsters who gloried at Trump’s trade war. Trump is not, and never has been a conservative. He is a Nationalist and a Protectionist to his core. Nationalism and Protectionism are as far from conservative principles as is socialism.

For that matter the Republican Party has long separated itself from conservatism, choosing to follow the statist path of the Democrats, only at a slower pace.

People voted for Trump for several reasons, but thinking he is a conservative was not one of them. In 2016 the vote can only be regarded as rejection of Hillary Clinton the person, coupled with a desire to put the establishment in its place. Voters for Trump in 2020 turned out in droves because they were terrified of what the Democrats have in store for them.

I don’t deny there are plenty of people who suffer from massive Trump Deification Syndrome. One only needs to look at this message board to know they exist. But those people are the fringe. And their personal love affair with DJT stems far more from their hatred of who the Democrats are than who Trump is. Most of them have exhibited not a single conservative belief.

IMO you are badly misreading the tea leaves. You are thinking people who say they are conservatives yet vote for Trump actually are conservatives. They are mistaken, and so are you.

Good post. I agree in large part and think there is a bit of miscommunication/misunderstanding. Perhaps the biggest point of disagreement I have is that I think most Trump voters don’t realize they have abandoned conservatism. They think the two are consistent. If they acknowledged that they more or less dropped their ostensible ideology in 2016 and took a massive turn, I wouldn’t have made my original post.

I’m sure we agree on many things. However there are two points I would like to make regarding your comments.

1). You say many Trump voters may think they are conservatives voting for a conservative vis a vis DJT. And you are probably correct in that assessment. However you have only served to reinforce that mistaken notion by basically agreeing with them in your posts. Since you acknowledge they are incorrect, your comments should reflect what you know to be true and point out to them the error of their assumption. You are not doing that.

2). Your refusal to admit the near universal attempt by the media to utterly destroy Donald Trump betrays a prejudice you may not know you have. If you can’t see that the actions by the media in “reporting” on Donald Trump have been taken to a much higher level of malevolence, higher than I have witnessed in my nearly 74 years on this planet, one can only assume it is intentional blindness. Sure, Trump has brought a lot of it on himself - what American politician in history hasn’t - but the daily attack on every aspect of every action or utterance by the man Is beyond the pale. Way, way beyond. Your posts indicate to me you are a relatively intelligent person. You have to know better than what you are saying.

Biden can't draw 5 cars to a Sonic drive thru, yet sets an all time record for mail-in ballots. 80 million votes total! 6 states controlled by Democrat vote counts shifts a sure win from Trump on election night to a wee early morning Nov. 4 win for Biden. I'm almost prepared to declare our slowest aren't stupid enough to fall for this claim. Am I off base?

I think this is where our misunderstanding lies. I do [or attempt to do] exactly this - but often do it with sarcasm or sloppy language (b/c I’m typing on my phone), and that doesn’t always convey or translate perfectly.

As mentioned, we’ll have to agree to disagree here. Of course the extreme left wing is incessant and unfair with their criticism of Trump. (Same happens in reverse). But my strongly held view is that the regular beatings he took from legitimate media was deserved due to his incompetence, degradation of Western democratic institutions, and almost absurdly low character (among many other things). Again, I’m confident we disagree on all of this but I wanted to explain myself.

Dominion Uses a “FactCheck” Statement by CISA Group that INCLUDES DOMINION to “Prove” Its Innocence on Its Own “FactCheck” Page

Earlier this month CISA director Chris Krebs rebuked President Trump’s claims that votes were deleted and changed by voting machines and tabulation software.

“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised,” the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said in a statement released following the controversial election.

Krebs was later fired by President Trump.

Chris Krebs forgot to mention that Dominion Voting Sytems IS PART of the CISA group.

So Dominion essentially shot down accusations of voter fraud using a statement that obscured their membership in the group that made the statement!

Now Dominion is using the CISA statement to defend itself from accusations of lost, deleted or switched votes.

This quote was taken from the Dominion webpage this morning.

The link above
[below] goes to an AP factcheck article that uses CISA as evidence to “debunk” a “tall tale of deleted votes.”

In the “Factcheck” article the AP uses the CISA statement to debunk the claims of fraud.

Again, Dominion is part of CISA so Dominion is using its own statement to defend itself on their website’s “factcheck” claim.

hell is coming to breakfast
riot at your own risk and peril

Classic - “normalized for 80% turnout the over-vote....” - redefining terms to fit Trumps narrative.

A serious analysis would show his denominator does not include same day registrations, his data feed is not dominion it is the tired NYTimes JSON data, and convenientLy omits details about when mail in votes were tabulated.

New day, same horse shit from butt hurt Trumpets.

Actually, if you click on the “Source” link at the bottom, you’ll see the reason given is so even Democrats can understand it.
Funny, I did that. Nothing substantive in that post. Feel free to point out what I missed....

When was the last time you had your eyes checked? There is this little dot, we call it a decimal point, between the 8 and the 1.

Goober, look at the turnout in the City of North Muskegon (above in this thread) then go get YOUR eyes checked. LMAO at you @davidallen, beating yourself to death trying to keep up in a hundred posts just today. You're really bugged by all this. lol.
