It was a joke, genius. But the point of the post remains - with the GOP in charge of this state for the last 13 years, we have quickly fallen to the bottom in education.

What is it the GOP has done that has effected test scores? What is your opinion on what improvs test scores?

Adjusted for inflation we spend over a BILLION less on education (based on per pupil expenditures) - think that may have an impact on test scores (class size, teacher pay, etc...)

Did you know that Joe Biden failed third grade?

A guy that failed third grade tricked you into supporting him.

Now...what were you saying about the intelligence of others?

Trump bought his way through college, reportedly had terrible grades and at least two of his professors said he was an idiot (which he clearly is) and you support him 😂😂😂

No I don't think money is the answer you think it is. I'm all for paying good teachers more money but that is not what happens when state legislators throw money into the public school system. I'm from the school of "You want a raise? It becomes effective when you do".

Looking at a chart of class size around the country OK looks about average to me

Kind of hard to deny Trump's success. You don't get to his level of wealth without being smart, no matter what his detractors want to throw out as excuses.

Huh? If he would have just parked the $ his dad gave him into a mutual fund he’d be far wealthier-and he’s bankrupted several companies, doesn’t pay contractors and has been sued (and lost) hundreds if not thousands of times. He hasn’t gone broke, yet, but let’s not pretend he’s a self made man.

You claim to be a Republican but spout off Democrats propaganda like one of the easily manipulated. LMAO
Would love to see the mutual fund that can turn 177 million into 3.5 billion in less than 20 years but I guess you trusted the MSM and didn't do the math. SMFH

It was over 400 million champ, and he’s not worth 3.5 billion as proven by his NY criminal case

Once again facts matter. Trumps father died in 1999 the 499 million number comes from inflation adjusted dollars to 2018. The actual amount Trump inherited was around 177 million in 1999 dollars. In the future try not to be so easily manipulated. Oh and if your wondering what the math works out to, over 15% per year for 20 years yea give me that mutual fund. LMAO

It's amazing how the left has always hoodwinked the slowest when it comes to wealth. Get them fixated on how much the rich has and whether or not they deserve it, and they won't notice that they have nothing.

Thanks to Dem policies.

In their defense they have zero common sense and have been indoctrinated to never question their puppet masters. Making matter worse when faced with undeniable facts they refuse to consider not only were they wrong but what else they believe that is wrong.
I've made more than my fair share of mistakes in my lifetime but with most every mistake I have admitted to myself I made the mistake, learned from the mistake and tried to avoid making those same mistakes again. Democrat voters either can't do that or refuse to.

He is no Rep. Complete troll. He expected claiming that would somehow make him more of an authority on the topic.

I was a "professional tourist" for 12 years. I quizzed educators and bank employees in 47 states. 47 states are at the bottom. Less than 1% I quizzed can teach me to count US currency. Our costly, miserable and failing public education system does not teach the structure and history of the US buck. .99 cents is not 99 cents as I've been told by countless educators and bank employees in 47 states. .99 cents is 99/100th of one penny.

I can ask hundreds of questions from second grade Lawton Taft Elementary tests today's educators can't answer. I love this directive. Name me the smartest of all the primates. Good luck in any state with this one.

Look at the percent tested. That tells you all you need to know about what a joke this is. Take DC…26.7. Only 17 percent tested. By the way, DC has one of the highest dropout rates in the country with just over 70% graduating.

Swing and a miss. Do better OP.

by pretty much every factor; including test scores, Per Pupil Expenditure, OK has dropped from middle of the pack to the bottom in the last 15 years

And Trump's going to close down the Dept of Education. You are making a great case for why that's a brilliant move on Trump's part.

It's really very simple to determine if the Department of Education is doing it's job or not. Simply look at what the goal of the Department of Education was and ask yourself if they are meeting that goal. I realize looking at a situation from a results oriented perspective is foreign to most leftist but it is the best way to judge if the department is effective or a total waste of tax payer money.

The mission of the Department of Education (ED) is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access for students of all ages.

From reading the opinions posted by our leftist friend the obvious answer is the Department of Education is failing and a total waste of money. Time to shut it down.

WTF does the Federal DOE have anything to do with OK dropping considerably in education compared to other states??
The problem isn’t really a problem in so far as the article you posted in no way proves a sub-par Oklahoma public education. There are many other metrics that could be used to bolster that position. ACT scores isn’t one of them. At least without some data normalization.

A couple of questions anyone with the goal of improving education in this country should be asking.

Are we getting the results we want?
Can we spend the 238 billion budget the Department of Education has better?

In my view the answers are obvious. No we are not getting the results we want and we can spend that money better to get the results we expect.

First, its not 238 billion, its more like 80 billion. About half of that is Pell Grants and Student Loans, and have nothing to do with common ed. A large amount of the rest is special education which have very little impact on the vast majority of students. Title 1 grants make up the largest portion of the rest of the money, and are used to bolster education in impoverished areas, but its not a lot of money when you realize how many impoverished schools there are. Almost all funding comes from the states, not the DOE. https://www.ed.gov/sites/ed/files/about/overview/budget/budget25/budget-highlights.pdf
