I am sure there is a thread somewhere on here about our current NIL program but I couldn’t find it.
I am fortunate enough to get to travel a bit for work and as a result meet some people that have had tremendous personal success in their lives. I recently had a conversation with an OSU alumni living in Texas, a member at multiple clubs, and travels back to Stillwater for home games. This particular individual mentioned to me that he has been visited by OSU folks 4-5 times, and not once have they asked him for a donation. They’ll come down, meet for meals, and fly home. He said until they ask me for money, I won’t write them a check, but all they need to do is ask the question.
I say all that to ask, who is actually running the fundraising piece of NIL? Do we have student volunteers trying to foster relationships or do we have folks dedicated (and paid) to identify and cultivate relationships with donors who also aren’t afraid to ask for money. Might be worth investing in some infrastructure, if we haven’t yet, to better attempt to compete with the majors in the NIL department.
