OKC's John Marshall High School: The Animals in Charge of the Zoo

Thank you for 10 years of republican-controlled education. I see our college admissions is also plummeting.

When you guys get hold of government you reeeeeally make your mark.

Lol.

This goes directly back to democrat Lyndon Baines Johnson who winked as the great society programs were signed that, to this day, create the welfare queens and slum daddies whose kids beat up school teachers.

Nice try, though.

Not even you are this stupid.

12? How long has it been?

Let's start lining up all of the excuses for this shity government. I see Tulsa Public Schools got a nice bit of news today.

This is hilarious. Everyone who has a functioning brain knows that the school systems in this country have been controlled by the super liberal teacher unions for decades.

I know, Dad was a school superintendent and fought them for decades and my sister is currently a uber liberal elementary teacher with 30 years experience. We love each other but absolutely cannot discuss politics with each other.

She like many liberals has a viseral hatred for anything or anyone considered "conservative" and I am positive most of her peers feel the same way. Been around them my whole life.

Yes, it's their fault they made the lowest money around, they're all underfunded and the tulsa budget is crippled. The GOP legislature and guv can step in any second and fund and demand standards. It's called LEADERSHIP.

Next excuse?

So the behavior of those kids attacking other students and even techers is the fault of the legislature and governor?

Clearly OKC school administrators didn't think this new school out. If you think OKC schools and school board are run by conservatives you would be very wrong.

Still doesn't absolve the behavior of those junior high thugs.

So can we blame the 352 YTD homicides in Chicago on liberal leadership and also come to the agreement that gun laws are not effective?

They need disciplinarian, inspiring, well paid teachers and staff. They need to be at a minimum in alternative school w child welfare looking in and a round of counselors, mentors and maybe fosters, but probably out of that school with other kids and teachers long before now if they're that damn wild.

It takes MONEY and people that give a shit. It takes LEADERSHIP. Basically the opposite of conservative government. That awful school starts at the top. The bad parenting needs DHS looking in, but we hardly have that now.

You blame a teacher for being a lib?!? Look at those conditions. They see what you guys do, all the funding drying up.

No they need parents.

So by your logic this is the type of behavior we should expect at all public schools since they are all dealing with the same funding issues.

This issue falls to the OKC school district for bad planning and the environment of the local community.

It is not DHS or the school systems responsibility to raise someone's kid to be a decent person.

Bingo! It has to start there, and if it doesn't, the children are the losers.

Like I said - republican government. Bad parents, so stick your thumb up your ass and wait for teachers to get beat up. Oh well. MAGA. Great leadership. Against everything and then wonder why ya'll are comically bad -- like, national news bad -- at government.

^^^This is the same dipshittery that brought us "Hands up don't shoot!"

Sorry shyster, conservatives aren't responsible for this behavior. Promoting a culture that doesn't prize and demand personal accountability and respect for authority is what has led to this kind of behavior. I wonder which side of the political spectrum that comes from...

Yep, scat, for once you're right.

Republicans own it. They determine the funding, the standards, it's their baby. They own it. They expended great energy to get control of government and now that they have it, rather than improve anything they blame.... democrats.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Failure of leadership. Ya'll are fine with this quality of education.

You say “It takes MONEY,” and “all the funding [is] drying up.” That “cure” is too generic. How much money does it take? How does paying teachers more money alleviate the problem of uncivilized children? (Note: I’m not arguing against teachers being better paid, but rather wondering how better pay for teachers would civilize the kids.). How much money does it take, and after raising teacher salaries how would the money that remains be disbursed? Where would the extra money come from? Would it be diverted from other agencies and programs? Which agencies, which programs? Or would it require raising taxes? Which taxes and by what formula? You decry the lack of leadership, and on that front I probably agree with you.

This seems to be an issue about which you have great passion. Are you personally doing anything beyond complaining on this board? Perhaps you should run for office, get elected and show us what real leadership would look like. I imagine the Oklahoma Democratic Party is always looking for fresh talent.

Sorry shysterkine billboardasaurus, you can't create whatever narrative you want in spite of the facts and expect anyone outside of your circles of the extreme culture of failure to buy it.

That behavior has been encouraged and condoned by the same political ideology that has brought us abortion as an acceptable form of birth control, the participation trophy mentality, Hands up don't shoot!, 84 genders, sanctuary cities, opposition of the death penalty, a welfare system that encourages a bunch of fatherless kids, Russia Russia, Russia!, college safe spaces, "social justice," etc. When you encourage and promote behaviors that don't include personal accountability, this is what you get.

Those video clips don't need a narrative to explain what is occurring. It's obvious. The fact that you tried to insert a dumbass silly narrative speaks for itself.

Sorry results count. I didnt see schools reduced to this under dem state government. For years the GOP juuuuust had to cut those taxes and get control if state government. Welp, you got it.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Always excuses and blame someone else for the government the GOP controls. And rather than fix anything just make more excuses and insert thumb. Its the cardinal conservative value!

Sorry again shyster, your bullshit is getting deeper. That's clearly a behavioral problem created by a culture that doesn't promote accountability. Shit like that doesn't just happen in Oklahoma.

New York City schools are a motherload of school violence. Maybe the Republican leadership of New York should be doing something to fix what the Republican leadership of New York has created...

Sys,

I'll actually play nice. So how does paying the teachers more fix this? You said they need a disciplinarian, which is right, but that's no longer allowed in today's liberal society. So what's your solution? You love to throw stones at anything 'conservative', yet frankly, you never actually have any fixes other than "vote Democrat". So here's your chance: Explain what would have to be done to actually FIX this problem.

sure. Generally in capitalistic countiries employers get better employees if the employee is incentivized by getting paid more money.

So with teachers, lots of teachers set up their jobs and lives where they can make more money than less money. That's why you hear so frequently about teachers moving out of Oklahoma for Texas, for example. In the last couple of weeks you may have heard about all the emergency certifications for teachers that lack teaching certificates. That's because we have a shortage of teachers, particularly in math. These people aren't going to teach school in Oklahoma for the poor pay, poor administration if they can get better pay and treatment elsewhere. That's one way. They can't get rid of bad teachers, as there's already a shortage! That's another way. Also, the number of student per instructor is a big deal. Schools can cheat around that by hiring staff to help the teachers, but that budget isn't there, either, and it's for really cheap employees.

In addition, Tulsa public schools has a huge cutback now. I got a good look up close and personal at a public elementary school in OKC a couple years ago. They didn't have enough teachers, the "staff" helpers weren't at all qualified or competent, they handed out coats in lieu of heating the classes, the kids weren't assigned homework or pushed at all. I was absolutely floored at how bad it was. This wasn't the inner city, either. There was no learning, it wsa an awful environment. I met the school counselor who swung by for a half day every 6 weeks. It was a plainly underfunded school with demoralized employees mailing it in and the "good" teacher there was a newbie that was self motivated and smart and lasted exactly one year in Oklahoma before leaving the state to teach. I haven't kept up, but it was a mess and there was no solution on the horizon.

@Medic007 often does the yeoman's work of walking @Syskatine through his fantasies. Thank you sir.

Your hero. He brought up every state but Oklahoma to defend what your party has done to Oklahoma.
