I've long been against the big money in politics but at the same time I don't think it's fair that corporations should have no influence considering the amount of taxes they pay and the way they are targeted by government. Stop taxing corporations while at the same time taking big money out of politics would be something I would readily support.
I do not know the exact number, but the amount of money spent on elections by candidates is absolutely ridiculous. I would guess the number would be in the tens of billions of dollars every year considering lobbying and expenses of running campaigns. Think of what good that money could do if placed elsewhere.
