Is it possible to have Stash kids that want to just be around the team at the RTC? Similar to what Cornell has always done with Finger Lakes/ Spartan.

Is it possible to have Stash kids that want to just be around the team at the RTC? Similar to what Cornell has always done with Finger Lakes/ Spartan.
I think the stash element only works before they enroll. They could do this with some lower level incoming freshman who would have no chance of starting from day 1, have them train with CWC and enroll the next year to let seniors and transfers clear out.
I think grey shirts could become more used. PSU has used a bunch but not a ton of other places have to my knowledge recently.
I thought I saw where someone else had mentioned that CY was likely making the personal decision that he was done with wrestling. I may be mistaken. If so, I apologize.

he's so freaking short at 197. And he does have a bit of fat on him. and just as important - BT just aint it.
And yet he took the 197 champ to a 2-1 result a month into college wrestling. Must have a little something going for him.
His old HS coach was pretty short for a UFC heavyweight, anyone know how that turned out for him?
Premature here but I think Facundo should go 165 and Ryder 174 next year if we get him. Lockett should redshirt. Then in 2027 facundo at 165 with Lockett now better grown into 174 (Haines and Pinto gone now too) and Ryder back up to 184.
When I watch some of their matches from this year I really think those are the best weights for the two transfers. But, how do you handle it if Lockett is as adamant as it seems to start. Drop Lockett to 157? No one has mentioned that lol. I think Facundo could do 157 but not sure that’s ideal either.

8 AA with two finalist will def give us more points next year than this one. Looking forward to this happening.
Got to get Ryder first. I'm an impatient man these days. Turning 50 does that to you.
Just some thoughts - I don't see Hughes cutting to 133 again and being any good. Rin would probably be the answer at 133. Jamison hasn't proven as of yet he can hold 141 and get it done at the end. Hughes should go 141. Lockett seems to want in at 165, bumping Facundo and Ryder up - that is if we get Ryder.
All very good thoughts. I could be absolutely wrong, but if you asked what would be the best weights for Facundo and Ryder I think it would be 165 and 174 right now. Could they do just as well bumping up, hopefully but who knows. Good news is I just get to speculate and discuss and nothing I think really matters hahaha.
With that being said, could Dee go 157? He wrestled at 164 at U20s last year. A lineup of Dee - Facundo - Ryder from 157-174 is pretty strong! Then they all bump up the following year. Allows everyone to grow into the higher weight? No clue on what Lockett walks around at but I don't think he has cut a ton previously since he didnt need to.
I just don't see any scenario (besides injury) Dee is not in the lineup next year. Those guys just don't sit anymore. To me 165-184 is some combination of Dee, Facundo and Ryder (knock on wood). The coaches will figure it out.
I know he was dealing with injuries so maybe that was a factor but if Bear couldn't effectively be our 133 this year I'm not sure how he can next year. Hope I'm wrong though. Would be awesome for the lineup.

I don’t think anyone, including Lockett will get to choose a weight. you will have to prove it in the room
And Dee is good enough to go take it and again don’t sleep on Vega

I actually don't want anyone at 133. I like what little I have seen from Rin, McComas, and we have Ronnie Ramirez coming in too. Now if you told me Byrd/Ayala has reached out....haha I may change my statement.
I’d take Brayden Davis too if he entered the portal.
It's a complete assumption that could be wrong, but because he chose to wrestle there for U20s last year. 184 made more sense for this season when he was planning on taking Starocci's spot. I think he wrestled 184 in opens to get a feel for it. I assume since he wrestled there in freestyle thats his comfortable weight where he thinks he can succeed.
Not bad, but my questions are many.
Is Rin too small?
Is Hughes injured or less than committed?
Swid/Tagen, are either of them really big enough to be at 57?
Can Lockett make 57?
We have three guys at 84-97, assuming BT isn't adios.
You don't spend money unless it is a sure thing AA, and I am not sure that is in the portal.
Is Ross going to be able to go as a True? Gable did it and Ross is possibly more athletic, but less polished as a Wrestler.

I think I heard Flo mention Hunter Catka from VT might be a portal option for someone needing a heavy. Rjr.

Dee is likely done growing and wouldn't be a huge 157lber next year. From what I understand, Ryder is well suited for 174 right now.
If it works for him and we do get Ryder, that is a tough 157-174. If BT has improved and Merrill goes at 197 that is a really strong and young back half.
We will probably find out at the US Open where a lot of these guys sit weight wise at the moment and will help guide this discussion.
He definitely is not overrated in regards to talent.

Maybe he's just bigger than that. Maybe he's a 141.
Him, Lockett, and Vega need to get freaking college athlete jacked. Then we can talk about their ideal weights. Lockett and Vega have little soft high school kid bodies. They need to get more looking like college upperclassmen. Being naturally strong and being as strong as you can be with really diligent, high level training are two different things.

I thought Hughes looked big for a 133, and his body looked very developed. The only guys in our lineup who seemed underdeveloped from a body standpoint were Carter Young and Surber.
