NCAA PORTAL

Jamison's future success relies more on how well he develops his offensive arsenal and scoring more points than if he goes 141 or 149. I think he can use his strength as more of an advantage at 141, but at 149 with less of a cut, and more muscle and energy it might be a wash.

Just not sure why the Swiderski more unless DT just wants more competition and nobody is guaranteed anything.

Would still really like to see Hughes make the lineup. Kid has so much talent and potential. He beat Zan Fugitt back in Nov at the Mich State Open who just placed 4th at 133. So it's there.

Actually tells you quite a bit….

Which part?
The entire post.

Jamison scored pretty well, when he runs at it. When he doesn’t, his data falls.

His weight cut could be better, but it was better than it was previously. Is 41 too tough? Possibly.

He’s a stud, but his spot isn’t a given. I hope he’s in the lineup and kills it. He has very little work to do outside of what’s between his ears…and that’s not terrible.

Hughes, well, let’s wait and see. There’s a reason he wasn’t trotted out more.

Injury (shoulder) might be part of the reason he wasn’t trotted out more, would like to see him as a full sized 141

He should just decide what weight he is going to wrestle and then watch his weight if he going to 33 and lifting lots of weights and eating if he is going to 41. I think he did half 133 and half 141 and it didn't work well. He also beat Fugitt in an all star match their senior year. I've said this before, but that number 1 recruiting class has been hard to understand, their so far lack of results.

I get he is an Oklahoma kid so we all want him to do well but he couldn't manage his weight and couldn't beat Witcraft who was a NQ/room guy for 5 years. Chances are he is never a full-time starter here, maybe before DT came he could pick his weight but the program has changed. This year was his opportunity to prove himself IMO

Hard to know right now, but it's awfully early to write him off.

Look at TT. Word was he couldn't beat Carter Young in the room, yet he grabbed opportunity by the horns when presented and wrestled great at Big12 and NCAA. TT without a doubt AA's had he not been such a low seed. But he couldn't beat CY in a wrestle off?

Anyone writing Hughes off at this stage more than will likely be happily eating crow at some point in his career.
I'm certainly not marking him down as the starter at 133 or 141, but I think he will surely be in the thick of it fighting for those spots.

I hope he wins the next 3 NCAA titles but it's hard to see him beating Jamison or Swiderski at 141/149 and it's pretty clear he can't make 133 consistently. Vega is also in the mix and was just as high of a recruit as he was, will be interesting to see how this all shakes out
Agreed, it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out for sure.

I will say, Hughes had a shoulder injury of some sort. One would think it would be difficult to cut and maintain weight while fighting an injury.

agree. With Hughes I would like to be a fly on the wall to know what is going on. Is it a weight issue? Injuries? Attitude? Maturity? My money is it’s either weight or injuries. I haven’t heard any rumblings of him having “problems”.

Swiderski may be one of the least talked about higher profile transfers I have seen in a while. He was casually mentioned yesterday in the forum. Hopefully, he brings the good and leaves the bad.
I can’t speak for everyone else, but I personally want to see how he does through the summer and preseason portion of the Fall before I get too excited about him. Where he fits into the lineup along with Jamison, Teague, and maybe Hughes is tbd. Obviously he is an AA caliber guy, but he might be on Knucklehead Watch if what folks on the ISU boards (and here) say about his love of partying is true.

That said, if he locks in and pulls a repeat of the Hendrickson/Hamiti career arc I might just name my next kid Casey.

I'm sorry I can't read all of these posts. Could someone give an occasionally tally as to who we've picked up in BOLD so it can be picked up while skimming. Thanks

I have my concerns as well; however believe in the accountability & enforcement mechanisms that have been put into place.

That said, his ceiling is higher than 2 and maybe all 3 of the guys you mentioned. He is a top end talent.

We’ve complained for several years that we don’t have enough quality backups to push the starters in our room. We are building the depth and now some are worried and concerned about losing some kids. The only way for us to get ahead of PSU is to field a team with 10 high level wrestlers who have backups capable of pushing the starters in practice.
I don’t want any wrestler to leave our program but today’s ncaa makes that impossible. But I want our starters to finish each week during the season thinking that their hardest match the previous week was in the practice room.

Has anyone heard anything on Lachlan McNeil and where he may end up at? UNC losing a couple of their better wrestlers to the portal. Since Coleman left, they have gone backwards a bit. Not even seeing many good recruits committing to them.

I think Willie said he has heard Nebraska is in play for him.
That is my recollection as well. Nebraska came up a few times including when talking about Nasir Bailey (who could even RS and then go 141). The latest Baschamania with Willie had a ton of good portal talk. Another nugget was that VTech was a possible landing place for Lucas Byrd if he gets in the portal.
