Maybe AJ will go to ISU just to spite Chittum
I’d take Chittum at 157. I know he didn’t have the best season this year but that Iowa State team was influx this season. Chittum was supposed to redshirt but ended up coming out after all the injuries. That 157 championship match against Downey in 2023 was crazy. What does he have 1 or 2 years left? I wouldn’t blame Chittum for leaving ISU if AJ shows up there either.
With all the flux at ISU and bringing in Ferrari why do I see a team implosion in ISU’s future? I’m sure Dresser is feeling the heat with the emergence of UNI and having to compete with Iowa as well.

Chittum has a ton of talent and is not meeting it at ISU. Regarding McNelly, I am starting to feel for Minnesota. They have had so many swing-and-misses. A short list would include Spratley, Ramos, Kerkvliet, Chittum, Jamison. Now we stole Robideaux who was committed for 3 years. Watching the Spratley and Ramos match it occurred to me that both those guys redshirted at Minnesota before transferring out. The accumulation of all of that would be demoralizing to a coach and the fans especially for such an accomplished program.

Fortunately for them I don’t think there’s any evidence that McEnelly is actually in the portal. The only source I’ve seen is that one guy on Hawkeye Report.

I would understand Minnesota not liking or trusting at all. But Penn. St. is a bunch of cut throats and if you are going to compete with them unfortunately you have to move in their direction. Bad for wrestling but if we are to compete. Only the strong will survive which is bad for wrestling. NIL, free movements of athletes have not been good for any sport. I think John Smith really cared about the future of wrestling. Sadly, this is 1 of the reasons we fell so far behind Penn. St.

100% agree. Honestly, I will never feel too bad about taking a transfer from a Big 10 school. That conference is one of the reasons college sports is where it is. With the money those schools are making funding wrestling shouldn't be an issue for any of them.

Taking them from other schools flat out sucks and it is terrible for the sport. At the same time we really have no choice.

Huh. Well that 141-149 roster battle gets a little more complicated
Between 141-157 how many guys are there?

Returning Starters: Jamison 141/149 and Travis 149/157 (maybe Young 149/157)
Freshman: Vega 141 (maybe 133), Robideau 149/157, Routledge 157 (maybe 165), Guerrero 157 (maybe 165), Hickman 149/157
Other returning guys: Hughes 141 (maybe holds 133), Cutter Sheets 149/157
Transfers: Swiderski 141/149/157

Some of these guys will RS and others will just be depth pieces, but wow there are going to be some crazy wrestle-offs. Further, you have no clue what these guys ideal weights will even be

“Certified at” vs “most effective at” is probably something to consider as well. Just because a guy certifies at a weight doesn’t mean he’s most effective at that weight. isn’t certification just based on body fat percentage and weight at the time you certify?

If memory serves, Jordan Williams beat this guy and he tried to fight John Smith after because Jordan had to stall the entire 3rd period after breaking his collar bone.

He better be on a tight leash.

(EDIT: I'm exaggerating about him trying to fight John Smith.)

What would be the ideal scenario? Tagen or Casey at both 141 and 149, Teague at 157, Lee 165, right?

Thought you guys were just fine with

Hughes 141
Tagen 149
Travis 157

Guess DT thinks different. Swiderski is either a 141 (hard cut) or 149. And color me surprised that DT is taking a flyer out on a guy who parties, drinks and accumulates traffic citations like they're collectibles.
