CC going to hit a 3rd school? I forgot he already left Iowa State earlier in the year.
I was on the Hawkeye board this morning and it was a true roller coaster. There are some pretty good posters on that board as well. There are some not so good ones. The Ayala v Byrd matcha never did stop being analyzed. But, it’s not all bad
We should be on better side of poaching, right?
Maybe we should try for CC and AJ. What’s the worse that could happen (said right before everything goes boom).
Willie said that he has heard Oklahoma State, Michigan, and UNC for Facundo.

AJ coming in could also could be part of why Carroll isn't returning to ISU

I don't think any specifics have been mentioned, just vague things about personal stuff. I did see one post that also noted that the circumstances weren't his fault
I don’t think the guy can pull to 197 long term. He looked absolutly drawn out. Stupidest thing in college wrestling is not having a 215 pound weight class. To force natural 210 to 225 pound guys to wrestle monsters or hate life due to cutting to 197 is dumb.
I would prefer a simple add and we go to 11 but if that isn’t an option I would like to do 125 - 136 - 146 - 157. Let’s smaller 141s consider a cut and doesn’t for all 149s to jump to 157.
I wonder if AJ actually goes to Iowa State, if that means Chittum will transfer out.
So, how about 10 pound weight class differences? Or is 10 too much in-between?

So the reasoning behind the current weight distribution is more about allowing equal(ish) opportunity to competitors based on participation numbers/demographic characteristics (most wrestlers at least used to weigh between 149 and 174).
If you look at the percentage difference between the weights it's smallest at the mid weights, where you have the greatest number of wrestlers competing, so if you go to flat differences between, you skew the number of wrestlers per weight classes by placing more wrestlers in fewer classes (mid weights) while not actually adding any competitors to the lower and higher classes.
Currently there is the breakdown in difference between weights on a percentages basis:
I think the best moves they could make would be the follwoing:
Bumping 184 to 187
Bumping 197 to 205
Reducing HWT to 276 (that's also the UWW weight)
It keeps you at 10 weight classes, eases the burden on the low end tweeners and allows the higher end tweeners to more easily bulk and not be weight crushed. Also, 276 is plenty large to allow for anyone who wants to compete to be able to do so.

If Bryd is leaving after championship, he is looking for NIL. Guess that takes us out.

I thought we were one of the top NIL schools for wrestling?
That would be Iowa and Michigan, in that order. Then a gap, then us and PSU.
I can’t imagine Iowa would be a big competitor for Byrd unless they’re willing to push Ayala out. Michigan maybe but they still have Ragusin there. If he does enter I feel like we’d make the most sense out of any school for him.
I am NOT saying this will happen or even implying.
How sweet would it be for Iowa to bring Byrd in, Ayala transfers to OSU and beats Byrd in the semis...as Byrd is trying to continue their run of Finalists.
I hope Flo brings their portal tracker back. It was nice to follow everything beyond the big headlines.

With the conclusion of the NCAA wrestling tournament, you’d think that it means it’s the offseason for college wrestling and all focus should turn to the Olympic styles, right?
