NCAA Brackets

Picc vs Elijah Oliver (IND) 14-8 probably gets Rodriguez again in the next round
Kaid vs Scott Delvecchio (RUT) 20-13 McKee of Minn in the next
Dean vs Brock Zacherl (CLAR) 21-3 Navy guy is the higher seed for next
Collica vs Cole Mendenhall (WYO) 29-8 Rutgers guy next
Joe vs Victor Lopez (BUCK) 27-7 Army guy is the 12 seed
Chandler vs Andrew Fogarty (NDSU) 22-11 Cottrell waiting
Crutch gets the winner of the pigtail, most likely Matt Reed
Nolan vs Hunter Ritter (WISC) 19-14
Preston vs Marcus Harrington (ISU) 9-11
Austin vs Jere Heino (CAMP) 22-7

I hate Picc and Roger's seeds but I think Schafer does much better than 6.

If picc gets to qtrs and loses he gets the winner from the losers from surianos quarter, could be a nice match up.

I wonder if Suriano will be healthy enough to make it that far. Sounded like he still couldn't put much weight on that foot at big tens

That was my point, if all wrestle to seed(not likely), and he is hurt then the second highest seed coming out of that quarter is the 11 as opposed to the 6.

I have no problems with the seeds. They always look scary at this time but we really could not have asked for better.
Rogers has a chance to redeem his loss in the Big 12. Pic moved up in the seedings due to the Big 12 tournament. Now we have to perform and I believe that John will have them ready.
LETS GO POKES!!!

I love it that Schafer is on the other side of the bracket of Snyder and Kasper. I think he will give Walz and Medberry fits.

I like the draws, on the First day ALL 10 OkSt Wrestlers have winnable matches in the first and second round on Thursday, hopefully get all 10 in the quarterfinals (maybe a little optimistic, but possible) then on Friday the team title is in reach.

Suriano likely won't win a match. Not sure if he will even be able to wrestle.

there seems to be a lot of optimism in the PSU crowd that he will be close to full speed. I don't see it after seeing video of him walking off the mat at Big 10, but hey, they should know more.

Hard to imagine that ankle holding up to the grind of nationals. He may make it past one or even two matches but eventually that ankle will likely get tweaked. Hard to wrestle on one leg.

Suriano WILL wrestle next week.

On his radio show, Cael said, “He’s wrestling. Didn’t make sense to wrestle him at Big Tens. Yeah, we could’ve used him, but setting himself back was not worth it. I think training can be overrated at this point in time. There is story after story of [wrestlers] who are injured or hurt and they can’t be on the mat one week or two weeks before a big tournament – Olympics or worlds – and they end up having the best tournament of their lives, so we’re obviously paying attention to those things and trying to make sure that our training is correct and we’re preparing our team correctly but as long as he’s getting his heart rate up. It’s not like he’s going to learn how to wrestle right now. He’s been wrestling almost everyday of his life since he was a little kid. It’s just a matter of him keeping his conditioning up and keeping his mind fresh, so I’m not worried about the training aspect. It’s just trying to get him as close to 100 percent as possible. That’s priority No. 1”

So Nick will wrestle. Will he be 100%? Doubtful. But a 85-90% Nick can get to the quarters quite easily, where he'll likely meet Lisak. Where he goes from there is anyone's guess.

That leaves a lot of room for play, as to how close he will be. But I don't disagree with your assessment.

Thanks for posting. Good to hear he's wrestling in the room. Never want to see any kid miss nationals with an injury. I wrestled through a similar injury back in the day (nowhere near the level these guys are at). I made it through a few matches with no adverse effects. Then I had my legs in and my opponent grabbed and twisted the ankle. I was done as the ankle didn't have time to fully heal. No idea where Suriano is in his recovery but the best of luck to him.

That is obviously the hope and I wouldn't expect Cael to say anything different but there is conflicting info about his ability to be able to be competitive in 7-8 days.

I don't doubt he will walk out there for his first match. I have major doubts about his ability to wrestle a competitive match.

I wouldn't say he is wrestling right now. In fact, my hunch is that he is not. If you read Cael carefully, Nick is doing what he needs to do to be in shape come next Thursday, and that doesn't necessarily include mat time. That is by design to allow maximum healing. We are all in the same boat. I 100% know that the team is doing everything possible to give Nick the best chance to place high on the podium. Whether he can or not is another matter.

Just ran the numbers based upon the seeds and the team scoring would be psu - 138, ok st - 122 and oh st - 106. Did include some bonus points per place not by individual so that the team points look similar to what will be seen in the tournament

How many points does a third place finish get? Just curious what the team race would look like based on seeding if you took out Suriano.

Crutchmer and Reed will wrestle in the first round, provided Reed wins his pigtail.

I thought there was a rule preventing conference mates wrestling in the first round.

Apparently not I saw at least 10 matchups in first round including at least 3 at 141. By the time the second round is over there is the chance that 3 big 12 finals rematches will have taken place.

I remember Bracket-gate when the tournament was at Auburn Hills near Detroit. The brackets are generally setup so wrestlers from the same conference do not compete in round 1, but for some reason the system was set for not meeting someone for the same conference in the first two rounds. Probably did not make much difference, but it was quite the scandal.
