seed that was tested in Stilly...also where to find it if anyone knows. Farmers grain in Edmond shut down so my seed connect is no more.
I'm so mad. My lawn was immaculate in May. Now it looks like dogshit. Edmond water isn't cheap and I've dumped a bunch of it on my grass this summer. I'm almost at the point of ripping out all of what's left of the grass in my backyard and throwing down river rock. Did I say I'm pissed?
I'll take any/all suggestions. I have zero pride at this point, so don't think you'll offend me with what you might think is a simple/mundane idea. My backyard is covered up by big river birch trees, so Bermuda is not an option

Throw some rye seed down.

With water what it is you should xeriscape. One of the biggest wastes of money I had when I lived in the burbs was trying to make 1000 sq feet of yard look like a golf course.

This time of year sucks for fescue yards. I feel your pain.

Do people in Oklahoma not use St. Augustine? It does well in Dallas and looks good.

Zoshia did fantastic in my yard before we moved. Way better than fescue ever did. And I am one who hates Bermuda and st Augustine

It's not as heat resistant as Bermuda but no where near as bad as fescue

Come October I'm laying down cardboard, mulch, and topsoil to eliminate about 40% of my lawn grass. In spring I'll replace it with rock, wood mulch, ornamental perennial grasses, a butterfly garden, a gravel patio, etc. The largest single patch of lawn will be about 8 x 10, which I need to reseed with rye. Good riddance.

The "Ask a Master Gardner" column in yesterday's Tulsa World was "Tips to keep fescue healthy in summer heat" and has some good info. Our whole front yard/partial backyard are fescue and this is the best they've looked in several years. Have used Five Star Blend for 2/3 years for reseeding.
