These days, "socially liberal" is everyone who isn't a "progressive," socialist, or on the religious right.
There's no difference between the far right and what is the left these days.
I teach it in U.S. History class (in Texas, the Rise of Conservatism under Ronald Reagan is something we have to teach), so I know it like the back of my hand.
Sitting outside US I don't see anybody in the congress who is far left' I do see people who maybe a little further on the right like the congressman from Kansas.
Some of them have come up with one or two ideas that could be called far left
and some on the other side of the spectrum who could be called far right.
When I look at your congress it is just like it has been ever. They are less partisan,
but they have passed the prison reform bill together. Unfortunately both sides
are more into slogans then practical politics.

You need to limit your viewing of Fox news also.

Hannity is smug and annoying as hell. But he’s been right about a whole lot of stuff. What did you find particularly comedic about him?
I don't watch Fox news at all. Ever. I don't like their interview style.
I just know that all news today is now biased and get multiple sources to get a fuller picture.
