Kneeling......

Okay, he gets a gold star.

Now lets get to the serious stuff. How many of these has anyone really even heard of? What is the % of the money that really goes to help people? How many years have they been providing the help they claim the do? Does he do events on their behalf? Is he on the board of any of them and get paid? How much of his money is donated above the IRS max?

My point is most of this crap is just more propaganda. Lets put some lipstick on the pig. Wait he wears socks.

Defense mechanism via ad hominem of philanthropist...I’m curious what charities you donate to?

Well, assuming Google is hiding the truth, why don't you point me to a few solid examples?

Caveat: I acknowledge the reports that he has declined/donated his salary as president. Noble gesture, and I commend that.

Otherwise, his MO is to keep his $ to himself, collect others money via the foundation and then redistribute that.

If I collect $1M and give it to Alzheimer's research, that is absolutely a good thing, but it is also not the same as donating $1M to the same cause, especially if I never gave any of my own money, and even worse if I go around trying to conflate the two things.
I can’t. They are hiding it.

He is no longer employed by the NFL and he gave one million dollars of his own money. I guess that was not enough?

Nope, I am just doing what I can to learn why I should feel differently about that loser. My next questions will be the exact same I have asked here today. They will just have many, many more names in front of them.

I am sure I have donated to the same charities in the same dollar amount or more than you, sir. The good news is neither one of us has been accused of disrespecting America. I know I never have.

Holy Breitbart, Batman...

https://www.breitbart.com/sports/20...ks-nike-ad-campaign-players-right-to-protest/

While the anthem protests and Nike’s decision to hire Kaepernick remains a wildly unpopular topic in conservative circles. The poll’s findings, if accurate, suggest that Republican lawmakers would be better off focusing on the anthem protests as a primary issue. As opposed to a potentially winning issue in a general election.

He is no longer employed by the NFL and he gave one million dollars of his own money. I guess that was not enough?

Hey, I have never said, based on that list, he has not possibly made a difference in something. Would all of us potentially feel a little better about the guy if that had some teeth? Meels on Wheels sure and I think there was one other.

Let me ask another way, if I put a list like that out would you be impressed and would you love telling people you know me? Would they want to meet me and shake my hand? F- NO! That list is BS and I bet it would not pass much of a sniff test.

**If my own kids were trying to support that cause and brought me a list, % wise of income, like his I would tell them they wasted their money if their goal was to really make a ligit difference to the public perception. That is what he is trying to do, he has failed and only done more do disrespect our country. Lets call that list fake news.

It was fine with me. He wasn't the first to pray on the field, and I don't recall his kneeling being restricted either.

I also don't remember 43 or 44 railing against him it to stoke the fires. Did I miss that?
CK's kneeling wasn't restricted either.

Tebow was widely mocked by the media and fans just as CK has been. After Tebow became a circus show, teams didn't seem to want him, same as CK.

I don't recall Obama saying anything much about Tebow except this:

"If I was a Jets fan, I'd be pretty nervous," Obama said. "Tebow seems to be a wonderful young man and he's got just a great winning attitude," Obama said. "He really steps up when things count, but there's going to be a lot of tension in that situation. So it'll be interesting to see how it plays out."

So is the issue Trump running his mouth about kneeling in the NFL?

Same interview, except your cut & paste lacks some context...

The commander-in-chief was a guest on WBNS-FM in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, sharing his opinion on the Jets' two-headed quarterback monster of Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.

"I gotta tell you, I dont like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of a season," Obama said, via the New York Daily News. "So if I was a Jets fan, I'd be pretty nervous. Sanchez is not Tom Brady yet, but he led them to the playoffs two years in a row. I think Tim Tebow seems to be a wonderful young man, and he's got just a great winning attitude. He really steps up when things count."

"But there's going to be a lot of tension in that situation," Obama said. "So it'll be pretty interesting to see how it plays itself out."

I wasn't implying that Obama said anything negative about Tebow. No further context was needed.

I mean, it’s a stark contrast to “get that son of a bitch off the field”, no?

So is the issue Trump running his mouth about kneeling in the NFL?

Well, compare the fervor about Kneelgate pre-and post-Alabama stump speech, and I think you have your answer.

It’s clearly a divisive issue, but one that was dying off by the summer of 2017. Then Trump ratcheted up the divisiveness to 11 because he likes it when the crowd cheers for him.

Ok, my bad. Mea culpa.

The context added does make it clear the controversy he was talking about was the Jets starting QB job, and not kneeing for prayer. It was not clear to me in your post, so I looked up an account of the interview.

So if not for Trump, nobody would have batted an eye at kneeling for the anthem post CK? Nobody plays professional football in the summer except the CFL. The issue picked back up when the NFL season started.

I didn’t say that. I said it had greatly subsided, mostly due to the fact that Kaepernick was not on a roster and not kneeling. There were still a few other players, but since none were CK, and the story was a year old, the media wasn’t covering it with the same fervor.

The issue didn’t pick back up that much until Trump’s Luther Strange rally in Alabama just before week 3 of the season. There were a couple of players kneeling, and the owners were handling their teams it as they wanted to, and then Donald threw gasoline on the embers, and there were far more protests after his speech than before.

Are you new to the concept of politics? All politicians say things to rile up their bases, or as you said "ratchet up the divisiveness to 11 because they like it when the crowd cheers for them." Obama said plenty of dumb shit over his years in office. Hell, he was saying dumb shit during a speech just the other day.

Yes, I get that it’s identity politics. He took a borderline non-issue, twisted the message, and got the crazies to fall in line. And if it was so bad when Obama did it, it ought to be equally troubling when Trump does it.

The NFL wasn't playing football during the summer. It's difficult to rustle jimmies with anthem protests when there aren't any opportunities to protest the anthem.

You might want to review the history of that time period. Players were kneeling starting in Week 1. Did Trump throw gas on it at the Strange rally and after? Sure he did. He capitalized on something people in his base were already complaining about. And he got the reaction I'm sure he was hoping for. Welcome to political discourse 101. Sometimes it works, other times it backfires.

I don't see Trump calling people racist, misogynist, homophobic, etc. He spoke specifically about a small group of NFL players on this issue, not an entire voting group like recent Democrats have.

If you want to think his comments on NFL players kneeling compares to calling half of Trump supporters "deplorables," or talking about voters "clinging to religion and guns," feel free to do so. It's your opinion, not mine.

If the intent was to bastardize the initial intent of message for the explicit purpose of gaining political capital with his base, and without regard to any other collateral impacts, then yes, he has been wildly successful.

I just don’t think the country as a whole benefits from it.

Context. Spin. Politics.

Did you have an issue with Obama doing the exact same thing? Do you have any issues with Democrats who are currently doing the exact same thing?

I’m offended!

Nobody, Republican or Democrat, is doing anywhere near “the same thing” as Trump.

Enough of this SHIT! The thread was started about Monica Lewinsky kneeling before the flag/dick bill, but the damned pic didn't post. It had nothing to do with the scumbag, suck-wad, second-team, douche bag, POS, who couldn't hand the f'k'ing ball to George Palmer. God Bless America!:D

Never underestimate the ability of OSI posters to take any thread several degrees off course!
