Kneeling......

Monica/flag pic wouldn't post, but thanks for playing.

Kneeling if your school teachers and think the system needs more money...okay
Kneeling if your a pilot and your employer is cutting corners that will result in massive loss of life....okay
Kneeling if you are a multimillionaire playing a freakin game, with no solution, cohesive message, contribution or long term plan to change the perception of why your kneeling......giant dumbass who will push people away from watching you play your sport.

NFL is gutless and for some players to say they feel like "slaves" sometimes is one of the worst optics they can project WHILE BEING MULTIMILLIONARES PLAYING A GAME.

Your patriotism is exemplary huh lol
Patriotism is believing that if you serve in the military you have a blank check for life? I don’t think so dipshit...

Again, there are a lot of **** ups in the military, currently serving and retired.

True statement. Just serving shouldn't make your opinion unassailable, whether you're left, right or center.

My question is does Boyer qualify as a **** up in your opinion? I've not seen anything about him to suggest so. Seems like a guy who served, clearly disagrees with Kap, but values conversation over division. We could use more of that.

Sorry, I don’t spend my day digging into shit like this. I had no idea who he was or what he did.

Is he a ****up? If he told him to kneel for tha nthem to protest a perceived unjust? Yeh, he’s a ****up.

Is Trump “**** up” in any way In your eyes? Just trying to establish your personal definition of the term

So you only get part of the story. Your loss.

Nate Boyer is a combat veteran and a patriot who bravely served with 1st Special Forces Group, 10th Special Forces Group, and 3rd Special Forces Group in Iraq and Afghanistan. Beyond that though, he’s also a man of great compassion, and you’ll hear that emphasized throughout this in-depth discussion. These traits of patriotism, bravery, and compassion, along with a short stint in the NFL, are why it made sense for him to meet with former NFL star Colin Kaepernick in the midst of a great deal of anger throughout the country. After penning an open letter for Army Times to the quarterback who made it a point to sit during the National Anthem, Kaepernick asked to meet with Boyer, and you may be surprised at some of the understanding that took place among these two men of very different backgrounds and core principles. Kaepernick kneeling from there on as opposed to sitting was actually the result of that face to face discussion.

This was a very intriguing conversation about how we view the world through very different lenses based on our own origin. We also discussed Nate’s military background of course. Nate now does a lot of charity work with the organization he co-founded, MVP (Merging Vets & Players.) Let him know what you thought of the show, his website is NateBoyer.com, and he’s on Twitter & Instagram @NateBoyer37. We went over two hours for this one, and really appreciate him taking the time. If you liked it, also be sure to leave a review on Apple Podcasts.

The SOFREP podcast is a good listen. I would encourage you to give it a try.

TLDR, don’t care about his background. If he advised someone to kneel for the anthem, he is extremely misguided or a complete ****up.

Boyer is advocating for people on opposite sides of issues to listen to each other. You are doubling down on the division. That's the larger shame.
By having someone kneel for the anthem? Spout anti police bullshit? Nah...

I can see that you made up your mind a long time ago. Have a nice day.
Yeh...you can’t do that shit then stand back and do, oh, hey both sides should talk. That’s bullshit.

And you expect that to happen by a action that is horribly offensive and divisive to a large portion of the population? Sure...

The left gets to do this and then blame the right for not having open dialog. **** that.

I wonder why Boyer isn't as offended, despite having served?

Maybe he sees where CK is coming from, disagrees with the manner of expression, but doesn't think telling him to STFU is the right solution either.

The SOFREP guys are pretty f'n far from lib sympathizers. I sure as hell wouldn't put them on the left of anything. Give the pod a listen.

I'm not telling CK to STFU. But I can express that I find his actions offensive regardless of who is advising him. Further, anyone who thinks that a fruitful conversation would be generated from said actions is fooling themselves.

You want to meet halfway and have a discussion - great. But that's not what happened in this case at all.

Kaepernick and Boyer met and had a conversation and discussed their differences and found a common ground. Perhaps you’re not open-minded? That couldn’t be it lol

I think a lot more people were offended after Trump played identity politics at a Roy Moore rally in 2017. At the time, Kaepernick was not even on an NFL roster, but 45 needed some fresh meat for the LCD crowd.

Kap kneeling in 2016 was about him trying to draw attention to something. It was not to "disrespect the troops". I don't agree with what he did, but neither you nor I are in much of a position to question his motives or intentions.

The rest of the league kneeling in 2017 was about pushback to being vilified by Trump at a Roy Moore rally. For Trump, it wasn't even about the troops. It was about riling up the crazies.

Whataboutism....

Whataboutism....
Disagree.

Before the Roy Moore rally, there was much less division and fauxrage, in no small part because CK was already out of the league. The kneeling would've faded away on its own.

Food for thought: are the Braves/Indians/Redskins nicknames & logos offensive?

You would think that one would either find both examples offensive (because someone is offended by it), or find neither offensive (because the initiator claims no offense is intended)...and yet.

I'm in the neither is offensive camp, because the intent is not to offend...but most people I encounter have one foot on either side of it. Go figure.

I also wouldn't lose sleep if the NFL passed a requirement to stand, or if they made the Skins change their logo. And I wouldn't lose sleep if the status quo remained. I'd just prefer the two sentiments be treated consistently.

Even more whataboutism...

You think the people who are offended should get over it and come to the dialog table with someone who purposefully offended them. I say that I don't blame them for their reaction.

If I can find another Green Beret that says it is a terrible thing to do, does it cancel out his opinion?

I know a Navy Seal and 2 marines and a fairly high ranking Naval officer that all think he’s a douchebag.

If you question these guys, you are unpatriotic.
