I think JB would be fantastic. Just have a hard time seeing that happen. Hope I'm wrong!
I just think he has the it factor. His outlook and overall life priorities are pretty dang healthy imo and he doesn’t come off quite as disingenuous or ego filled as some of the other prominent guys. He also fits the OSU culture unlike someone like JB. I just think he’d resonate.
How does JB not fit the OSU culture?
Only reason I mentioned JB coming in is because of the good relationship between him and John
I’m not saying he couldn’t get along well in Stillwater, but it’s an ag centric guy vs a big city guy imo.
Yeah and I think we would all do backflips if that happened so don’t take me wrong. I was just saying that if we are creating dream scenarios that I like DT slightly better.
Obviously we are comparing apples to apples with JB and Taylor. You bring up some good points about JB and the Stillwater culture. DT is such a program guy with PSU and he runs that youth club so getting him would be a chore. But I do agree that DT would probably be a better fit culture wise. I also think Dake would be as equally as touted as the other two.
I get what you're saying. From the outside looking in though it appears he has everything he wants in PA. Farm, M2 training center and the NLWC. He has to be next in line for Cael and I just dont see him uprooting his family to come here.
And I will add if JB can feel comfortable in Nebraska, He'd be just fine in Oklahoma lol. Not to mention him and Coleman were on an Olympic team together.

Counterpoint would be that Cael was seemingly all ISU until he wasn’t and much like Cael… DT’s name and all that comes with that will follow him where ever he goes. Cael could go for a long while and DT could build something of his own much like Cael did. He could also just get started and still have the option of following Cael at that later date. I think the money and possibilities post Olympic career would be significant on top of everything else
JB has verbalized that he never wants to coach college wrestling. He only likes free style.

But his plan as of now is to open a club in south jersey. So he'll be coaching plenty of folk.
I expect Coleman to be announced pretty soon as the new HC. I think we'll see everyone back on staff that is currently there. No clue on who might fill the vacancy yet.
@leecothran Do you have any insight as to if or when they will make the new head coaching hire and who they will bring in as a assistant if Coleman is the guy? Thanks!
He's NOT gonna tell you who the next assistant is lol. Not his style.
Any truth to us having conversations with DT? Hearing it from the PSU side but not sure what’s accurate.

I highly doubt it but it would honestly fit CW’s m.o. after making a run at Bill Self imo. I think he likes to go for big fish
I agree. I also asked the question of why would we do that to Coleman.
One is HC and the other runs the RTC/assistant coach? Just spitballing. Taylor hasn’t coached yet. This would be a huge add though. If OSU wants to regain its historic status it needs to go through another historic program.

Could be… it’s worth noting though that CW kept the lid sealed tight when he hired Lutz.
To be fair, we’ve had talks with other PSU guys in the past and not everyone is aware of that.
Little Rock needs Little Rock’s coach. Love Erisman, but he does more for wrestling by staying there and continuing to build that program.
I have no idea what's been happening since JS retired. I've gone on the record as saying I don't think CS (who I actually do like) should be the next HC, honestly if he didn't wrestle at OSU what would scream that he's got the coaching chops to lead the greatest program in all of NCAA athletics history? I do know that there are some folks with more money than I have that would love to see a full coaching search done and have money to give for a big named coach. No clue if they've actualy been able to accomplish that or not, personaly I've resigned myself to CS being the HC and hopefully being proven wrong in my assessment. Make the announcement and lets move on.
I love what Pendleton is doing with Oregon. Again, it is probably better for wrestling for him to stay in the Northwest, but I love his energy and style.
Do we think Chris Perry will be back? I keep having this weird feeling he's being allowed to find another job before CS is officially announced and bringing in 2 (or more) of his own guys with him.
