Very painful night and this is common being a Cowboy fan. In general the 2nd half of the season we have not improved a bit and have likely got worse. This development that I have been looking for has not occurred. Plott gets beat by a true freshman and those that say he is better than last year, I would disagree strongly. Plott had the big advantage on the mat but in overtime he keeps pushing forward when he has no offense and surprise, he gives up his leg again. He should have been careful and get to the ride out. Surber got beat bad and Merrill is better but he is redshirting. Hendrickson was the star again. Hendrickson is the star of the team. By the way Ferrari is not a punk and he earned the win. Did our coaches not prepare Plott for Ferrari getting down on a knee because he appeared clueless. Hamiti stayed in a tie up with Brands for minutes doing nothing was he not prepared. This was a painful night at Iowa City. Nobody here should talk about how the Brands can't coach because they have beaten us 5 straight times and 6 will come next year. If our Coaches don't improve even with our great recruiting, we will keep losing against the best teams.
I think there’s a nonzero chance that last year’s Jamison either ekes out a decision or even loses with the way he ended last year. Last year’s Spratley probably doesn’t get the MD. Let down by some of the results, but I think this roster with last year’s staff (or some version of it) takes a worse loss with a worse showing. I think you’re right on the money that nobody is more pissed about the result than DT and the staff and wrestlers,I would say Spratley, Jamison, Hamiti and Wyatt have all continued to improve. Hard to be critical on those guys with solid wins at Hawkeye. Fish isn't very good and neither is Young. I bet this loss stung a little for DT and he does what's needed to rebuild next year.
Spratley teched Cruz last year 19-2. He was one takedown away from another tech, the results are pretty much the same.Last year’s Spratley probably doesn’t get the MD.
On the podcast this week, Fix mentioned how Plott gives up his legs some and insinuated that could be a problem in this one. And I agree, the reset in SV was crap, but tbh Plott should've already finished the takedown before then184: Clearly Ferrari’s stance and style messed with Plott. I was surprised he gave up those singles so easy. Tough ending in SV, I thought we got robbed.
