Trump has managed to drive a wedge between our friendships/alliances with both Canada and Australia. I hear there is concern the next to fall away is Japan, as there is a growing belief that (because of the tariffs among other reasons) America is not a country to be trusted, and China looks to be a possible replacement. To be sure that’s a minority opinion in Japan at the present, but it is growing rapidly. Similar rumblings are coming from South Korea. I know some people on this board are convinced the world needs us much more than we need it. Trump’s foreign policy mIght put that belief to the test.

If these countries don't want to be friends, unless we provide them unfair trade policies are they really friends?
That’s one way of looking at it. If we drive them into China’s arms as we have done with Russia, we’ll know for a fact they are no longer our friends. Will that make America great again?

LMAO, with China's trade policies? LMAO you've lost your mind. Will never understand why demanding fair trade policies is such a problem with some. They tariff and place trade restriction on us, nothing wrong with us doing the same.

"America is not a country to be trusted, and China looks to be a possible replacement." You need to beat feet boy. Update your passport, if you have one, and haul a$$ somewhere. I suggest Katmandu. Your hatred for America is wearing thin and it's just time for you to go. You can still post from whatever commie/marxist/facist spot you choose, I personally will feel better knowing your traitorous a$$ is off the continent. Take off hoser.

It must be painful for you to hear what people in countries that have traditionally been our allies have begun to think of us under Trump’s administration, that we are proving to be unreliable and can’t be trusted. It’s painful for me to hear it, too. The question is: what are we going to do about it? We can recognize that “Trump’s way” is detrimental to our well being and it is not too late to change course, or we can act like asses and drive them into a relationship with China. Your anger toward me for bringing it up is immaterial to the conversation.

Our Allies have been screwing the US in trade and relying on the US for their national defense since the end of WWII. As a result the US is 37 trillion dollars in debt, over 120% of GDP. Now compare that debt load to our Allies. Germany has about 2.7 trillion Euros of debt, about 62.5% of GDP. France has about 3.3 trillion Euros of debt, about 113% of GDP. The EU as a whole has about 13.8 trillion Euros of debt, roughly 82% of GDP. See anything wrong with these numbers Dan?

Now we are the bad guys for demanding trade policy changes? SMFH

You are in grave error if you think the $37 trillion shortfall is because of a trade deficit (which is a made up term that doesn’t even exist in reality). I am in 100% agreement - 100% agreement - that our national defense budget is bloated beyond recognition, and cheered when Trump suggested cutting it in half. But what did he finally decide? Why he bloated it up to $1 trillion all on its own! You want to lower the national debt? Start there.

Never one to see the big picture are you?

In other words, you see nothing wrong with the numbers.
In other words you don’t explain it to me because you can’t because all you’ve got is some seriously twisted emotion. Show how your “trade”
numbers are responsible for the $37 trillion national debt. Show how trading American dollars for goods valued at an EQUAL DOLLAR AMOUNT somehow has harmed us. When it comes to American dollars wasted on the defense budget that lets our allies off the military hook we are in complete agreement. The cure for that is to cut off the spigot, bring our troops home, downsize to a realistic number and stop being an empire.

Why don’t you do it instead of talk about it? Show how the trade deficit has caused our $37 trillion national debt. What do you think Americans did with the goods it paid for? Did we bury it in our back yards? Did we use it for a bonfire? What did we do with it? It should be easy for you to explain how we came out on the short end of the stick. So explain it! For every $1 billion in dollars we spent we got $1 billion worth of product. Explain how that caused a $37 trillion national debt.

You're not very good at this.

1+1=2. Trade partner South Korea has one Ford dealer. The US has 1500 Kia and Hyundia dealers. South Korea has trade barriers the US hasn't. I can site a number of other examples. Trump is trying to strike some kind of balance. The slow leftist finds fault with Trump. Most of our board members gets this fundamental equation. 2012Bearcat, OUSOONER67, soonerinlOUisiana, CoastGuardCowboy and fairdinkem would score higher than Dan on my 60 question Mensa exercise.
