HS Recruiting News

Someone (wish I remember who) suggested a big time flip from a middle weight that could grow into 174/184. I was guessing it was James. Whoever made the suggestion, can you confirm or is the flip still in play?

They sure respond to our possible threat by getting Ono and James in a few days. I find this disgusting. 2025 pound for pound get 1,2, 15,18, 32 and 41. 2024 class 1,5,6,7 and 15. 2023 the got 7, 10, and 42. Now they get Ono and James and 2022 they got Haines. That a lot of money and hard to compete. They have jumped a level with their Program probably in response to us.

Cael goes for the jugular. I have said it before, Cael is a cold blooded killer. It’s amazing his absolute focus on winning. I couldn’t imagine growing up in his house. He probably has slotted face time with each member of his family along with a required amount of “hug” time. No more, no less. Stop watch in hand.

Is that wrong??

I thought the rumor on a flip from VA Tech was that Burton was considering coming to OK State? Any news on the Raney's?
That was a rumor a while back but he decided to stick with VT.

Just recently we were going hard after Jayden James but he flipped to Penn State instead.

As for the Raneys I’ve seen several people say that Illinois are the long time favorites. However someone on the Iowa board said he went to their stat championships and he said that he thought we were the leader based off the chatter there.

There was also some guy on Twitter hinting at OSU getting a couple twin commitments

I saw Ross has entered the 20 and under Nationals coming up next month at HWT. Mocco and Coby Merrill have also entered.

Not sure about that. But Coby pinned Shahakian, top HWT guy who goes to Michigan this year. And, Coby is still in HS, will be in HS next year too, and will have a RS year. So by the time Coby is ready, Cody will be a senior or would graduate.
IF Coby takes a redshirt for 26/27 and then an Olympic for 27/28 they would still have a year used together.

Did anybody else see Cormier yell at DT in an interview mid-tournament under the stands, "Now go get Coby Merrill!!" David had this look on his face like "great...don't need you yelling recruit's names on national interview." Can't remember if it was ESPN or FLO. How connected is Cormier to that Merrill's since I think he's out there by them?

When I watched him win State at HWT, Coby is very thick and powerful. He appears to be a HWT which is what he is wrestling in the 20 and under. He probably weighs 240 or 250. He looks way different from how Cody looked at HWT. To be honest Cody looked fat at HWT and Coby looks like a powerhouse. Now if he does poorly at 20 and under at HWT, maybe but I think he is a HWT just as I think Cody is a 197.

I believe he yelled “go get Cody Merrill a championship” or something like that. Coby hasn’t wrestled for Cormier for awhile now.

I think Ross has a very big frame and could really bulk up. I think he weighs around 220 now, so my uneducated guess is no.
The thought is a 6'4 250 pound athlete that can be taught by David Taylor to move like David Taylor.

In five years, if he gets upset in the Finals, it will be one of the biggest upsets in NCAA History.

Lol, thats it. Couldn’t tell which Merrill first name he said, and assumed Coby by him saying get him here/there. Coby looks more muscular than Cody, but definitely could lean up quite a bit. He won’t say his weight, but was 215 before he started eating a lot more according to an interview on Flo. How tall is he?

I still can’t believe David Taylor is our coach. It felt surreal last May and I still have that same feeling.
Said true. What has been seen the last week is that Cael is concerned/scared. Some if it feels like a loss but Taylor and staff should take it and use it. Nobody knows David Taylor better than Cael Sanderson. If he is willing to convince/buy recruits/transfers that the PSU program doesn’t need for the apparent purpose of keeping from OSU, it should be used as testament for what is bound to come. Get on board!

The only thing Cael is loyal to is himself. He is not loyal to one wrestler on the Penn State team and not even loyal to the sport. He will do whatever he needs to do in order to make sure his ego is not damaged. That is what makes him dangerous in the coaching game.

Lockett won by tech 19 to 4 with 6 takedowns with the first an ankle pick at the start and got a last second takedown for the tech. That last takedown Dee was in trouble but scrambled out of it got behind his opponent Bode Marlow rated 6th at 175.

Austin Johnson rated 7th lost 4 to 1 at 215 to Angelo Posada who is rated 3rd. It was 1 to 1 with about 20 seconds left when Posada lost the scramble and gave up the takedown with seconds left in the match.

Ronnie Ramirez won 6 to 5 over Desmond rated number 2 at 126. Ramirez is very quick and got 2 single leg takedowns on each got control of the 2nd leg for the takedowns. In the 3rd period Ramirez gave up 3 stalling calls for 2 points. Ramirez took neutral because Desmond is tough on top. Desmond shot a lot but Ramirez is so quick he often didn't touch Ramirez's leg.
