What about the Goff kid? Is he a room guy? Will he even end up at OSU? Just wondering if he will be into living wrestling year around? I notice he does not really wrestle except during the school year and likely doesn’t pull much weight.
Goff is a freak athlete. I could see it going two ways… he either buys in and becomes an absolute stud that surprises everyone or his attitude and ego get in the way and it doesn’t work out. There has been “rumors” of things in high school that would not set will with the OSU staff if he did that in college

I agree. It usually boils down to if the kid loves wrestling or just wrestles because they are good at it. Pulling weight and managing classes and workouts etc can overwhelm most. Particularly when you are no longer the best one. Wonder how many times he was taken down in practice or even got beat in a match?

In the last two years his only loss was last year to Correa in OT and it went to ride outs. He really could be one of the most athletic kids to ever wrestle at OSU. He just needs to buy into our coaches and check the ego

Could be he doesn’t wrestle year round because he enjoys other sports and/or his family just doesn’t have the money to wrestle year round. Club fees, travel, tournament fees, that all adds up quick.

You don't become a 4x state champ by sitting on your butt during the off-season. Just because he isn't competing in FS doesn't mean he's not training. So unless he is on a different planet with ability I'm sure he's in the room a lot.
True to an extent. I bet if you looked at the top college wrestlers at each Weight the vast majority wrestle FS.

We actually broke it down for Oklahoma during 6th hour yesterday. Over 73% of the kids from Oklahoma that went to southern plains tournament ended up being state qualifiers and state placers. We preach that freestyle is vital as well as Greco for development and mat.

Forrest won his first match by fall in the first minute yesterday. Johnson won his by TF in under two minutes.
Yes, Chasingthirty-five I just watched this match and Jax lost the 1st takedown stood up and got mat returned and then stood up again and got the escape and immediately whip by takedown by Jax. He gave an immediate escape and then a quick, fire man carry to the pin. Bad start that quickly turned around. Yes, Johnson was dominant in first 2 matches with lots of takedowns and back points to finish the match before the end of the 1st period.. Also watched Waters match where in his 1st match, he got taken down in a few seconds and then a few seconds later Waters won by pin ( like Jax's match). Waters won by pin in about 30seconds in his 2nd match. As you said the 2nd match by Jax was total domination with takedowns and back points.
