HS Recruiting News

He’s not funding us like a college girl with daddy’s credit card.

Also, Iowa has a guy that is a credit card for little girl.
Iowa is paying big NIL and raised over 30 million for a new facility. And Chad is paying DT and staff and will build the RTC and Oklahoma St will get a new facility. Once thats all done down the road if NIL is still around I can see Oklahoma st paying big NIL $. It's not like they're aren't paying now

He paid out the ass to ensure you got DT? David wasn’t going to take the job until the money became stupid.
Okay, it’s obvious you were sitting there when it all went down.

David isn’t at OSU for money, he’s at OSU to win. He won’t have guys around him or his guys that are any different.

*is he paid extremely well? Yes! Would he give money back to win? More yes!

Money isn’t David’s God, that’s God! Second is family, 3rd is winning.

This got away from the point I was originally trying to make. I just don’t know if I believe that $5 million. Obviously it could very well be true. But I have a hard time believing that an 18 year old of ANY caliber is going to be getting paid as much as a top 3 coach in our sport. That’s all.

He's not there for the $ but the $ got him there. He wasn't leaving PA and everything he had going there without getting the salary he got. 500k wasn't gonna cut it

I know you guys that know a shit load more than I do on the inner workings regarding Richison and NIL. I’m going to assume that CR is a highly competitive person. If he wants the best, to be the best and to get best and quickest return on investment, then I’ll believe it when I see it on him not ponying up some BIG NIL dollars to guarantee that the ROI is everything he hoped it would be when he got into the David Taylor business! You don’t do all that he has done to not see us overtake Penn State, sooner than later! I’m might be wrong, but I’d be willing to bet that if he needs to get highly involved in NIL, he will! Once you’re pot committed, you don’t let $5-10 million keep you from being the best! My 2 cents on the matter, but it makes zero sense not to, at this point!

Bingo. And most here have no clue about any of that they just act like they do. Currently they don't want people looking at them as a NIL school

It is somewhat hard to believe that Iowa is shelling out millions for Bo, but they are not willing to shell out enough to keep us from swiping the best HWT prospect in years out of their own backyard. Bo could very well end up in Iowa City, but I do not think it will be because Iowa throws crazy money at him.

Not yet… He is willing to fund the post grad opportunities for our world level wrestlers which before NIL, was one of the big keys to success for PSU’s recruitment.
So you think CR, with DT’s approval, just dropped a record setting NIL deal for Bo? That’s my only point. I’ve not yet heard a single person say he is involved with our NIL while the public perception is we have a billionaire funding our NIL.

Will he at some point? Who knows? CR is an extremely erratic individual. Predicting what he will do next week is a fool’s errand let alone years down the road.

Completely different worlds.

Ross is also a football recruit. Pretty sure he's going to do both. Hawks likely in on Mocco.

The number is right.

And Bassett is an outlier. He's actually going to earn that money. His social media influence is ridiculous.

There is zero chance Basset earns that money for Iowa off social media views. If Iowa can offer him that kind of money more power to them but it will never "pencil" out and get earned back. Whatever that mean.

I’m not doubting VHS, but 5 million in wrestling is hard to believe. There’s got to be more to the offer than just Bo.

The kid has "earned" it. You're worth what people are willing to pay for you. It's been a bidding war from the beginning for his services.

Not just views. Bassett is a brand. If he's in ANYWAY successful at Iowa - he's paying for himself. Not to mention this likely means getting Melvin Miller and Keegan Bassett as well.

I agree the money is preposterous. But thems the brakes and this is the world we live in.

Marcus Blaze was rumored at 1.2 million and he’s every bit as good as Bo, maybe even better. I just can’t fathom spending that + 4 million on a wrestler, imagine who the HWC could buy with that.

Hey, I think Iowa fans should feel zero shame. If they have a dude who is willing to pay what it takes to get the Bo's of the world more power to them. It is just never going to pay for itself. There isn't enough money in wrestling to get real ROI on paying a single dude $5 million. Now who cares about ROI if it isn't your money. Just saying.

NIL definitely isn't about ROI. We all know that.

I guess if getting Bo means you get his brother and Melvin Miller (who I’m going to assume you have to pay pretty handsomely as well), what additional return does he have to generate to make him worth that? Is it measured in national titles (team and individual), in more highly ranked guys outside of immediate family ending up at Iowa?

Chad Richison net worth is estimated to be about $1.8 Billon and growing. If he wanted to donate $5 mil to get a program changing kid I'm sure he would have no problem doing so. I'm not a finance guy but I believe that he could write off that money as well. The marketing and media attention Bassett would bring to the program would pay for itself over the time he was on campus. Wherever he goes will lead to more and more top recruits going there as well. This is bigger than just 1 kid.

NO RUTGERS!?!? I think our odds went up a whole lot. I figured it was between us and Rutgers. I did not see Vatech in the mix though.
I'm even more shocked he eliminated Ohio State. The rumor was they've been throwing massive money around in this class. If the NIL rumors are true he is going to Iowa though. Hope they aren't.
