I understand the libertarian argument (i.e. Rand Paul) but i just don't see the defending rights of terrorists.
Where was the outrage of waterboarding under Obama when it lead to the compound where OBL was killed?
Oh, and another question. Who was her supervisor that authorized the waterboarding?
So, let’s say the CIA has someone in captivity that they are 99% certain knows about a pending terrorist attack in the US and they are also a known terrorist. Let’s assume under normal interrogation techniques they would not talk.
So, let’s say it was the 9/11 attack, and let’s say you had family in those Twin Towers.
Anyone that would say they would prefer to not use water boarding or other alternative interrogation techniques to save their loved ones to get them to talk is full of it.
If I had family that died in a terrorist attack and you had a guy in custody that had knowledge and all you did was interview them and did not use alternative interrogation techniques, I would be beyond pissed.
This is phucking war, they cut our heads off for fun. They are also fighting a war without declaration and wearing a uniform to identify themselves which allows you to kill them under current law. No one talks about that.
All these people questioning this, how their tune would change if it meant their life or lives of their kids and it was real, not some stupid war against the “opposition” party.
Use alternative interrogation techniques and kill them if needed, it is legal, they are fighting a war without declaration and not identifying themselves with a uniform which was intended to protect innocent civilians.

I say lets make an exception for all cases when we are 99% certain that torture will prevent a 9/11. Otherwise don't torture people.
The whole point is that there is no certainty any of these techniques will save anyone. In a platonic scenario when you know for sure your torture saves lives of course you torture, but we don't live in a platonic world.
Probably a good idea to keep people this emotional away from the the levers of power.

I find it amazing that the same people on this thread criticizing her for using torture are the ones who have celebrated the killing of OBL by their Commander-in-Chief, as if the latter ever could have happened without the former.

Which part? That OBL's location was identified in part through interrogation techniques that individuals on this thread are now crucifying this lady about, or that libs on this board celebrated OBL's demise as one of Obama's achievements in office?
