Explaining The Economic Errors Of “Tax The Rich” & “Tariff China”

Oh yes it’s much better to allow foreign countries to place tariffs and import restriction on American goods while the US allows unrestricted and unfair trade. SMFH
That’s really not a rebuttal, it’s an emotional reaction spoon fed to you by a political talking point. Why don’t you read the article and explain the error in his economic reasoning?

How did NAFTA work out for the United States?

If the world was completely free and everyone was economic equals free trade would be the natural order, it's none of those things so free trade is a disastrous way to conduct business.

It’s interesting that governments got together to hash out a government regulated free trade agreement, don’t you think?

You are in economic error when you say an isolated country that practices free trade in a sea of fascist/socialist/government regulated economies would be disastrous. Well, you’re correct that it would be disastrous for the authoritarian economies, but I don’t think that’s what you meant.

It’s a rebuttal you don’t want to face because it’s true. Other countries place tariffs and restrictions on our exports but if the US responds in kind you blame US trade policy.
Following your trade policy has led to the loss of millions of good paying manufacturing jobs and has resulted in a direct national security threat.

Again, you are spouting political talking points. The politicians who have taught you this are hoping you never understand the economics involved because it would shatter the power they gain by scaring you into begging them to protect you.

That’s typical Ponca Douche reasoning. Just like it’s ok for terrorstinians to murder Israelis, but it’s a war crime for the IDF to defend its people.

"Free Trade" is exactly that - trading freely. When nations put onerous tariffs on US goods to protect their markets, it's absurd to think the US doing the same is somehow "bad".

You know you're just trying to be the "clever boy". It's quite boring.

It is an error to think a top-down authoritarian economy is superior to free markets, and it is a grave mistake to think the US economy can “beat” China’s only by becoming authoritarian itself. A free society of people free to decide with whom they choose to trade should be the hallmark of our country. Regrettably our politicians have hung out the banner of protectionism, and the people are quite willing to relinquish “just a smidgen” of our liberty if only the politicians will keep us safe,

All the usual.

Massive arms and base buildup.

Hoarding gold.

Mainly, they told us, a lot.
What arms and base buildups? Where are they located? How is hoarding gold a preparation to go to war with us? That’s two things. Are there any others?

For once I may read something PDan posts from Bari Weiss. Fox News mentioned something she wrote today about the Coup and that her and her contemporaries have been duped

Why the hell is any Country thats not a Communist Regime doing business with a Communist Regime? Dan did you know China has actually been quilty of muh Genicides? Also, guess where the covered up Chinese Virus came from? Hint, C-H-I-N-A.

In what way do you think placing tariffs on Chinese products that Americans choose to buy will end any of the things you write about here?

I love neither Hamas nor the Chinese government. It would be nice if you would address the question I asked of you: how does placing tariffs on Chinese products resolve the issues you brought up?

Shouldn't be importing any goods from a Country thats is a Genociding Communist Regime to begin with. Thats something I was sure you would agree on but no.
Okay, let’s talk about that another time. But for now let’s stick to the first topic: how do tariffs end the crimes the Chinese government is perpetrating on its own people?

End? They don’t, tariffs make it more expensive and influences business to look elsewhere, which in turn reduces GDP for the targeted country. The US being the largest consumer nation has a decided advantage which it should use to provide fair trade.

Thank you for your reply. You might tell @OUSOONER67 that tariffs will not end the depravities of the Chinese government. You, OTOH, need to study up on what free markets are, because tariffs for any reason are counter to them.

You might start here. He put it in language so easy even I understand it.

How do you counter countries that trade unfairly?
