Everest

Not for all the money in the world.
I heard of a guy, scales a 2000 ft. tower 4 times a year to change out the light.
That's all he does, period.
60,000 a year.
Watch this. The ending is spectacular!

When I was young I worked construction and we worked on scaffolding several stories high.

We did exterior and interior work at the OU Energy Tower close to the football stadium. The first week was terrifying doing exterior work then you strangely get used to it.

Same thing happened when I worked for a company that did the ceilings at the First Southern Baptist Church on Sooner Road.

To my OU friends on this site, if you look above the ceiling level at the Energy Tower you'll see my graffiti propagandizing the superiority of all things OSU.

All my life I thought I was exceptionally intelligent... ...until I met Sunburnt Indian.

A gift from the Great Father. But I'll assure you, I'm only in the league of Mensa genius Geena Davis. We're stupid compared to James Wood.

And I can't master English, the world's dominant West Germanic language. You can't imagine how hard I try.

I remember a Republican mispronouncing hyperbole on the House floor. The state run press had a field day. When Gore mispronounced bow of the U. S. S. Missouri not a peep. Gore said bow as in bow and arrow. Gore also called the battleship an aircraft carrier in his speech. Imagine G. W. calling the Missouri an aircraft carrier.

Remember the first Bush VP misspelling potato? How long did state run keep reminding us?

Or GHWBush being amazed with a bar code scanner yet few mention AOC and her garbage disposal encounter.

I've never understood these types of challenges.

A friend of mine convinced me to scale Mt. Fuji twenty years ago. At 12,385-feet, it didn't seem that overwhelming. Tons of people do it every year.

Miserable experience. Rained most of the way up and you couldn't see more than twenty yards ahead of you. It just kept going and going and going. Even worse, there were little, 70-year olds behind you climbing up like they were going downhill. How is that possible?

Was great getting to the peak. Quite a view. And there was a signature from Jimmy Carter who climbed it at 69-years old. His zest for life is pretty amazing. But there's an old expression in Japan....'Everyone should climb Fuji once....only a fool does it twice'.

I've worked in the tower of an rig derrick. It had a railing so never felt concerned, and never even considered the risk of falling from the ladder. But I was a young teenager then. Now that I'm in my 40s, I don't think I could do it.
