This is great news. If you think I want a trade war just so I can say “I told you so” you haven’t been paying very much attention to what I’ve been saying. When I saw that the EU had concluded a tariff-free trade agreement with Japan a week or so ago I thought one of two things might happen. 1). It was a big FU to DJT, we’ll trade without you, or 2) It might open the door for a similar agreement with the US. It looks like door 2 is opening, and I couldn’t be happier.

What are the consequences of ending farm subsidies? Does anyone care to lecture on the specifics of payments, how they are calculated, versus crop loss insurance programs? How long have we had them?
