Why do you say that? My employee handled it very well, IMO. She politely listened to him for 25 minutes. She didn't argue. She didn't roll her eyes. She didn't tell him that she felt threatened. The guy picked up his cat yesterday and went home happy as a clam with his visit. I spoke to him on the phone about his cat, and he did not bring up politics at all. We had a very pleasant conversation, and not one of my employees gave him so much as a dirty look.
I told my employees exactly what you said at the beginning of your post. Some old people are lonely (especially during the pandemic) and feel the need to bend someone else's ear when they get the chance.
