Cowboy RTC and the next quad

was it ever classified as a violation? Did the NCAA ever investigate? Did other programs join PSU in building an RTC shortly thereafter? Maybe the bias is with you.
You didn't refute what I said. I'll repeat, if you can only come up with one plausible explanation, it's because your thinking is limited.

Read the findings on OSU probation, Iowa was doing the same at the time. They didn't change the rules. Iowa went beyond that level and then PSU took it to a new level. The NCAA evidently just decided they no longer cared or at least didn't care about non-revenue sports. And plenty of coaches knew exactly what PSU was doing.

...we were "out" and now we are "in" and may the best team win...there just takes some more time to make sure our cylinders are filled or being filled...OSU carried the flag and support of wrestling nationally/internationally for almost 100 years...but '"sharing" will be soon in disregard...best to all.............rs

Apparently not. Never once did the NCAA blink at what Cael was doing, so the only conclusion is that it wasn't even close to a violation. I'm happy you guys have a growing RTC but don't rewrite history. Nothing Cael did was wrong, and when other programs followed suit, they did nothing wrong either. John just wasn't in the "building" mode as he got older. It happens in all walks of life. DT was hired to build what John did not have the energy to do. And before I am criticized, I have spent a couple decades building businesses, but at 61, even I am slowing down. Stuff happens in life.
Just because certain folks claim Penn State was participating in illegal activities does not make it true. Just because certain folks claim Cael did nothing wrong does not make that true either. The burden of proof however lies with the accuser. OSU is in a great place now, I would prefer to focus on the present and future.

We were paralyzed from heavy handed sanctions given to us by the NCAA, and we could not/would not overcome them. It was past time for John to go. The sanctions given to us were not the norm and caused everyone in the business to walk on egg shells. We needed new blood to get past the fears and trepidation. After 30 year, we were still seeing through ancient lenses. We needed a new, clearer perspective. It’s been refreshing to say the least.

In John’s defense for his fear, it was like getting a serious spanking from the neighbors drunk Dad for playing ding-dong ditch.

The main infraction was reimbursement for a transmission and a plane ticket to see a sick family member if I recall correctly?

It’s very simple to expect a much more severe punishment for stuff perceived to be foul.

Jax did a short interview with SI. He's already benefiting from Coach Roper's influence (quote below). He also mentioned some training partners in his prep for Vito, and Fix isn't listed among them. Hopefully Fix's knee gets better soon.

"... coach Lee Roper has been so helpful with that in making sure I'm still hungry and not satisfied while still being grateful and humble."

Fix mentioned on the podcast that Spratley went to Mongolia as RBY's training partner. Since he wasn't going to be competing during this time, it's cool that he's helping RBY and probably getting a good experience out of it as well.
I’m pretty sure this is accurate.

There is a great dynamic being forged with what this staff is doing. Everybody is pulling in the same rope.

RBY techs Bekir Keser (TUR) 12-2 in 4:52.

Less than a minute in, RBY shoots a double, Keser tries to defend with a chest wrap but can't. RBY gets a turn and tries for a lace but doesn't get anything more. 4-0. A minute later, RBY gets to the leg out of a tie and finishes, on the edge. 6-0. With 10 seconds left in the first period Keser gets to a leg but then comes up, they scramble and Keser ends up on top. RBY defends in par terre. 6-2 at the end of the first. Jimmy Kennedy is there in the corner in team Mexico gear.

Second period, a minute in, RBY goes behind beaks the quad pod to finish. 8-2. 30 seconds later, goes behind again. 10-2. RBY has him figured out. One more to finish it up 12-2. Solid win, will have a big step up in competition next against Olympic bronze medalist and World #2 Aman Sehrawat (IND).

RBY beats Aman Sehrawat (IND) 14-11 in a big upset victory. Very impressed with RBY's fight to come back.

Ninety seconds in, RBY takes a shot but gets caught and Aman goes behind for 2. RBy on the clock, scrambling, Aman gets the finish plus shot clock point. Down 5-0 after two minutes. RBY in on a leg now, stands up, then trips Aman for 4 points. Aman immediately back on top, RBY grabs an arm, but ref awards the 2. Down 7-4 at the break.

Aman in again, but RBY successfully defends on the edge. Back to center. RBY gets a leg and works around for the 2. Down 7-6. Hand fight picking up, Aman shoots and gets 2 more. Aman gets another takedown on the edge. Down 11-6. Tons of action. More fighting, RBY rolls Aman over for 4. Down 11-10 now with 30 seconds. RBY in on a leg, working up, being patient, takes a few tries, but eventually covers up and gets a turn. That's the match! RBY wins 14-11 over the world #2 and Olympic bronze medalist!

I really didn't think he was going to be able to pull this one out the way Aman was scoring, but he never gave up. Excellent match and by far the biggest win of RBY's freestyle career. Gotta be feeling great after that one.

He'll face Munkh Erdene Batkhuyag (MGL) in the finals. Batkhuyag beat Rin Sakamoto 5-1 in the 3rd place match at the Asian Championships recently.

RBY loses to Batkhuyag 6-3 and takes silver.

First period ended down 1-0 off a passivity point. Second period Batkhuyag earned a stepout point. Then with 30 seconds remaining and down 2-0, RBY got a head pinch and then carefully worked his way around and got the takedown to take the lead on criteria with 20 seconds to go... then RBY was working on a gut and Batkhuyag steps over for 1 point and then a turn for 2 more. RBY spun out of it but not in time. They work on the edge and RBY gets back on top for 1 and the ref brings them up with 1 second to go. Down 5-3 and only a second left, we challenge because you have to at that point and it's unsuccessful. Tough way to lose.
