Cowboy RTC and the next quad

I’ll say this.

If this move back to PSU is because his wife struggling to make Stillwater her home, I get it.

Years ago the wife and I moved for a career opportunity. Initially we were excited, it was only a few hours from our hometown. As time went on it became apparent that she really struggled being away from her family and friends, and didn’t adapt well to a new city or making new friends.
It’s not easy.

After about 18 months we moved back.

It wasn’t a “she won” or a typical “happy wife happy life” situation. it was just the right thing to do for the betterment of our family. She wasn’t happy and it wasn’t easy for me to know she was battling through that.

So I get it.
I sure couldn’t imagine moving to Pennsylvania.

Best of luck Gilman.
Thanks for all the help while you were here. I believe he made a big impact in a short period of time.

Word. If I could take a job that’d (probably) pay me more and get my wife and daughter closer to her family, I’d do the same thing. Now if he goes to PSU and starts talking mess, I will have to wish him a lifetime of flat sodas and long red lights.

This is very accurate except for the logistics...depending on your def. of "few hours."

But for every man, especially a deep thinking, biblical man with the warrior gene; it is very difficult for your wife to be unhappy. It is inherent in every man to protect, provide, love and cherish. When there is stress that creates unhappiness, the man literally has to fix it or he feels his job as a man is failing.

This fact, coupled with a few smaller issues related to adjusting to the change was probably just too much for Tommy Guns to navigate for his family. Plus, I think he still has the itch to compete.

We all thought Gilman was a prick up until last year…….we probably were right on our first instinct.
Well, to leave a job, so soon. Our lower weights struggled the most all year (except spratley). We can extrapolate that there may have been either ideological or personality conflicts between him and someone on staff.
A less delicious alternative, maybe he was here only to help DT transition for a year and then make his way back to the home base. 🤷🏼
I actually liked him and it sounded like he may have had trouble transitioning to Oklahoma

Gilman rushed to become the coach. Gilman said on the outside, he and other staff kept it professional. On the inside it was not the same way. Gilman had issues with the staff. Gilman said he made a fuss few times, and stood ground. and sometimes, others did. Something happened after NCAAs which Gilman and rest of the staff didn't agree on how it was handled. He face timed DT and the decided. Says no love lost.

No love lost or no hard feelings? About to start listening so I guess I’ll have my answer soon
I had the same question, let me know what you hear. I’m just rolling into Stillwater to start pregaming for the boys from Oklahoma concert, so needless to say, I will not be listening to any podcasts today.

I listened to the podcast and he kept referring to the staff and I thought he meant the Athletic Department staff but the longer I listened it did sound like the Wrestling staff instead. I thought he and DT were tight? TG says he doesn’t think there are any hard feelings but I can’t help but think “staff” is DT. I’m kinda surprised he’s gone out and gotten public with it.

I thought he just wasn’t done competing but that doesn’t necessarily sound like the case. He said Spratley was the only reason he wanted to stay at OSU. It sounds like he definitely wasn’t happy being on the staff.

I don’t know TG personally obviously, hate to lose him. We’re not privy with the day to day of what was going on but it’s disappointing it didn’t work out.

Sounds like no hard feelings from his tone. He is… definitely a different kinda cat, but wish him all the best until he’s going against an OSU guy.

Godspeed on the concert. We’re driving up to attend the Sunday night show right now, hence the podcasting.
