Bret has a ton of colleagues at FOX that will expect him to ask the right questions, and the right follow-up questions. He expects it of himself. She never answers any question directly, he needs to have follow up questions that drive home the point she is dodging and not answering questions. He can't force her to answer a question, if she refuses viewers will see that. He is not a moderator in a debate, the other key will be for him to fact check her on blatant lies.
Trump has won over some voters because the media treats him like a hostile witness on a witness stand and they gang up on him, they know from that the media is dealing from the bottom of the deck and they can't be trusted on their views or reporting.
As much as we would like to see it, Bret treating her like a hostile witness will not sway any voters and could pull voters to Harris for those that seldom watch FOX and get confirmation bias as to how slanted FOX is in their mind and how they project lies on to her. Let her do her own lying, give some voters credit to see it. Black men see it as an example.

I am embarrassed to say she was treated fairly to my surprise and she did a horrible job answering questions and she is not fit to be President if she is unable to honestly answer questions or state what will she do different than Biden. What is she hiding?"
If you want to watch Kamala get scolded and a verbal beat down with her doing little talking, don't watch. This will not look like Maddow interviewing Trump, nor should it. A good professional news journalist can calmly show her for the empty shell she is by asking the right questions, the right follow up questions, and fact checking her on her big lies. Bret needs to come across as the superior intellect, in tune with voter concerns and questions, far more composed, and not be a raving extremist right winger. He can not be the story, she needs to be the story, she can torpedo herself with no help, she has done that already on friendly interviews.
