I'm struggling to equate Kiev being under siege within the first two days of the invasion to the Russians have been slowed and in some cases stopped.

Ukraine needs 2 things: Resources and the will. With no will, nothing else matters.

Their will no doubt be possibly false reports of Ukraine success in order to raise the hope and will of the people.

It took the US military 3 weeks to get to Baghdad. Russia most likely takes the capital in the next 24 hours. At that same pace, US would have taken Baghdad in 6 days. Now, taking the city and able to maintain controlled occupation? 2 different issues.
