I think it more because "Angry white men" are just about the only generalized group of people left that he has not insulted, so they will be his largest group of supporters
The left loves applying labels and promoting stereotypes as long as they are the ones doing it. White and cisgendered privilege are the most dire problems that exist today, so there is no possible way that white males can be anything but racist.
The POS goat herder in chief started this recent round of leftist nonsense by sticking his big ass ears into the Trayvon Martin shooting, painting that thug as somebody that could be his "son" despite any real evidence having been known at the time. The left and media painted Zimmerman as a blood thirsty racist white guy and Odumbass ran with it.
The goat herder did it again with Michael Brown, again despite any real facts being known, and fueled the race narrative that was gleefully capitalized by our nation's well known race hustlers and the idiots in the left dominated media. Despite all evidence to the contrary, the left and their puppet groups like BLM have run amok with their brand of bullshit.
Now the left has expanded the labeling to any and every belief outside what THEY believe. Don't agree with the gay lifestyle? Homophobe. Don't believe transgendered folks should use the opposite sex bathroom? Bigot. Don't believe there is a war on women? Misogynist. Want illegal immigration to be dealt with? Racist. Believe in welfare reform to reduce fraud? War on poor folks. Don't believe in abortion? Right wing extremist. The list goes on.
If it wasn't the beginning of the dumbest generation ever in US history, it might be comical. There's an entire generation being raised on the principles of victimhood and genuine fear of those who oppose their very narrow indoctrinated views. It won't be long before the French will be calling us pussies.

We have a POTUS with Kenyan heritage. I don't know his full family tree, but his mother was of Lithuanian descent. Generally the label of "Black" is applied to mixed race individuals so if you want to call him "black" I suppose you can.
