I think it could be 2 more years is not something he wants. Or could be after a redshirt The competition would be very difficult for Teague which would include Robideau or Routledge would be redshirt freshmen. I would hate for them not to be able to go their second year in Stillwater.

Calling my shot that Troy wins Big 12’s and Jamison finally exorcises his Happel demons to win a conference title as well.
Troy isn't the favorite, but I am with you! I do worry a little about his match with Tanner Jordan. After that, the Figs match will be fireworks!
On Tagen, he's going to have to get by Alirez to see Happel again. If he's healthy and feeling well, he's a danger to both guys.
One big 12 champion would be terrible, and 4 finalists would be bad. We need to perform in the off season.
If you look through the brackets 4 finalists is a reasonable expectation. Troy has to beat the returning national champ just to get to the finals. Reece has a punchers chance, but isn't favored to make the finals. Tagen has to beat a national champ to get to the finals. Who knows what we get with Teague. Fish has a decent shot. Cam has to upset Hall to make the finals. Dean and Dustin should cruise to the finals. Luke has a good shot to make it and Wyatt will crush everybody. If Tagen and Troy would've gotten the 3 seed I'd say we would've had 6 in the finals. That was a long way of saying I think we put 10 in the finals😁

Cam is such a weird one this season, if he proves out at the NCAAs good for him but I haven’t seen a better version of him from mid season until now.

Surprised UNI is that close to us. If you note Travis needs to get 5th for a bid to NCAAs, he would collect us an additional minimum 9.5 points. ASU is in rough shape. 33 of their 41 points are from 125 and 285. ou in 4th kinda surprised me, but its 3/5/2025 and they still suck. UNC is strong up front, weak in the back as 61.5 of their 63 points is from 125-157.

Interesting, the other scoring projections I've seen based solely on seeds have us with a bigger lead.
I did the brackets with a heavy lean to wrestlestat comparisons with a few that I thought were wrong. Not much orange koolaid, but some.

So, with that, how close it it? NI is a pretty salty squad. Average placement is 2.2 to 2.9 which is razor thin due to 149 and 197.
Without bonus and not checking first round byes, that has OSU 154 and UNI 140. So still fairly close even with your bias. I think Travis winning it is a bold prediction, but I love it!
I also think we score at a high bonus rate and that can’t really be factored in easily. Probably around 30-40 more points tho I hope.
Honestly, I didn’t fudge much and tried to leave bias out letting Wrestlestat do the predicting.
His comparison with Paniro was glaring to me that Teague wins that.
One caveat to TT is that we have no clue what kind of Wrestling shape he’s in. I’m fearful he has a Rin gas tank.
That is not out of the question. In all honesty, Troy has as good a shot as any to be a champ, as long as the brackets fall his way. With our other wrestlers, there are definite obstacles in their way. At 125lbs, there is no clear cut #1. Troy had shown he can beat the best, as long as he does not match with up with certain body types, long and lanky and as long as he is clicking on all cylinders.
Which he matches up with in the quarters...a long and lanky guy that happened to have knocked him out of AA last year.

We should never have a weight that we can’t qualify a wrestler for nationals imo.
Agreed. We should qualify 10 out 10 every year. Even in bad years we still qualified 10 for nationals.
Before at-large bids, Cornell and Penn State are the only 2 schools with 10 currently qualified. Five schools, including OSU have 9.
This isn't directed at you osu1988, but this may be the first time that PSU qualified everyone without need of a bid. In some years, we only took 9 to nationals. If someone expects all ten to self qualify every year then I fear your expectations are too high. It took Cael 16 years to do it for the first time.
They aren’t too high. I didn’t go do the research, but it seems like we regularly qualified ten with a supposedly lesser coach.
I will say I would expect DT to qualify all ten going forward, and I think he will.
To each their own. To me, qualifying ten to nationals has no real relationship to winning a title so I don't invest in that metric. I'd love all my team's wrestlers to qualify, but the ones who don't probably wouldn't have averaged 1 point toward the team score.
I know you said averaged so it’s fair, but it’s also possible to have a guy run through the consis and score really good points. In 2021 Wyatt got us like 8 I think in consis. I think you’re slightly jaded with your success and that every point can matter!
Long, long time lurker here and an even longer time fan going back to Coach Roderick, Keller twins, Uetake, Steve Barrett, Fred Fozzard, etc., but I'm going to side with Pennstate1985. Qualifying 10 to the tourney isn't the point. The point is qualifying sufficient numbers with sufficient quality to win the thing. I have nothing against Reece, but we just saw him score zero points. Is it possible he could pin an opponent and perhaps score a point? I guess. The upcoming tourney isn't going to be decided by one point--or two. How many times in the past would we qualify 10 and then have 1--maybe 2-- wrestlers alive in the championship round by the semis on a Friday night? And then we would finish in 7th place (or worse). A poster above noted that "even in bad years we would qualify 10 for nationals." OK, what the point of that? It seems to me that gauge or measuring stick blinded some folks to the state of the program. In my opinion, having 10 qualify doesn't mean much in the tourney. Apologies for the rant, it's been a frustrating number of years for this wrestling fan and I'm finally seeing some signs of hope with this new coaching staff. Let's give them some time.
You both have good points. Wyatt as the 33 seed and finishing 8th in 2021 was as unexpected as it gets. He did have a MFOR in the blood round against Brady Berge to AA. But just because you qualify all 10 weights doesn't guarantee that they are all going to score you points. Ideally I would like all 10 guys to qualify, at the least just for experience. But looking at it from a team scoring perspective I think I would rather qualify 7 or 8 weights where those guys are highly seeded and have the ability to AA and score a lot of points opposed to having all 10 weights and only 4 or 5 can really get you any points.
Not jaded at all. Very few wrestlers score more than a point or two from the 29-33 posts.
This is actually more aligned to my perspective. I personally want all our guys to make nationals, but one guy not making it is not a coaching failure. It happens, and mostly because of injury.
To be clear I wasn’t saying you need all 10 to win a title, but in this current year I do think it could come down to a few points here and there to get 2nd or 3rd. It’s gonna be a tight race for 2-5th it looks like and I want every point we can find.
I see a tight race for 2nd/3rd, but not anyone else. Those other teams either have fewer top dogs and/or not enough quality up and down the lineup. Nebraska has a good team and placed 2nd at BIGs, but when you add OSU and VT and others into the mix, the guy that placed second at B1Gs now places 7th. A ton of points are given when guys get into the semis, and your recruiting shows that DT understands this.
