The actual quote if you give a shit about the truth. Al Gore from 2007 Nobel prize acceptance speech:

"Last September 21, as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is “falling off a cliff.” One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years."

I want to make a fortune in the global warming scam like algore.

Actually I think the OP quote is correct, but just attributed to the wrong climate alarmist. I believe John Kerry is the one who said close to the OP quote.

According to Politifact, Kerry said in 2009, “Scientists project that the Arctic will be ice-free in the summer of 2013. Not in 2050, but four years from now. Make no mistake: catastrophic climate change represents a threat to human security, global stability, and — yes — even to American national security”

The truth is... algore was running a scam and made a fortune on it.

I've got some extra carbon credits for sale. I over estimated my need since I bought the hybrid and installed the solar panels, wind turbines.

Sys, David, Clint, JD how many can I put you down for? $10,000? I'll give you guys a 10% discount from what Al sells his for.

Good deal I know you want to save the planet.

Apparently you missed the memo from the board's global cooling global warming climate change disciples. Individual contributions don't matter at all. The only thing that matters is government regulation of stuff.

Have you ever seen me all in on Gore or “The Inconvenient Truth”? I’m not sure I’ve even commented on man made global warming/climate change.

GTFOH calling me out on this topic and trying to lump me in with Sys, Dave, and Toon , you schmoe.

As a huge defender of Hollywood and the entertainment industry, how could you not be with them on climate change?

You have seriously lost your mind.

Another lie from the lying liar.

So Headhunter’s post...not the movie?

Sorry for being a little slow on the uptake on that one.

Ha yes when you get lumped in with those yahoos I laugh. I think you and I have the same opinion about your stances and know you aren’t a liberal in the modern sense.

Odd that they would mention a record high temperature in Denver but ignore the record cold temperature in Eugene the other day. Odd. Right?
I think the guy that blamed cold weather on global warming got fired so we probably won't hear about the millions of people starving in Eugene until he's replaced.

I knew better.

Hey everyone, it's hotter than ever.

No its not.
So what?
How do they know?
The researchers work for the government.
It'll be epic when libs are pissed because the world is so shitty, let's burn some diesel!

Christopher Hitchens, smarter than anyone in this thread, has done it for us...

I have absolutely no problem with this take.

He clearly states - we don’t know if human activity causes warming, but we should take actions as if they do. Very logical.

So then the debate becomes about what to do? Lots of solutions in this area. Maybe just start with the easy ones?

Sure. So you don't think it's getting hotter then? That's just cherry picked?
I don’t know. But anybody who writes an article about record high temperatures and leaves out record cold temperatures that occurred in the same time frame is either pushing an agenda or simply needs to do more research with an open mind.

I'd love an intellectually honest exchange on this topic, but for whatever reason the conservatives on the board use it to troll.

What records are you referring to? Link?

And there’s always a generic search engine entry of “record cold temperatures 2018” which yields fascinating results.

Guess you could search for record cold temperatures in 2017 as well. The thing is, the author of the story could easily find this sort of thing. But for whatever reason, you just don’t get the cold weather stories shoved down your throat like the warm weather stories are.

One thing that always stuck with me in a science class I took at the lib bastion that is Oklahoma State was a professor saying "Global Warming" was a misnomer, he preferred "Global Weirding".
