(3) OK State v. (5) UNI

125: Feeling like last year; high ceiling, not sure what you are going to get

133: Has been a good, competitive situation for the Team; ideally need this at every weight. The issues that have been raised have been knowns for some time. Seems like it’s the other guy’s turn at this point.

141: That’s how every match between these two has gone.

149: Thought Carter looked as good as he has for a while before dropping this late. Needs to learn to finish.

157: huge bright spot. Love how he looks like a full 157.

165: offensive explosion!

174: vs KOT will tell us everything.

184: Plott is at his ceiling ability wise. Hard to blame him about an all-timer in his class. It takes nothing away from him.

197: healthy Surber is dangerous and underrated. The most refuse to lose guy on the Team.

285: what can you say…this is a dream come true!

What is the better team? Hughes/Witcraft at 133, Tagen at 141, and Young at 149? Or Witcraft at 133, Hughes at 141, and Tagen at 149? This will be a big question next year also being that Hughes, Tagen, and Young are all returning.

Tagen doesn’t appear from the outside to be having trouble with 141. It’s his for as long as he can hold it. If he can’t, I think he beats Young in a wrestle off. Tagen defense is top level while Young can’t finish easily.
I think we all see that Hughes is struggling at 133. Not sure 141 fixes it but with more time and experience maybe 141 works well for him.

So I see
133: other
141: Hughes/Jameson/other
149: Jameson/Young/other

If McComas can go 133 he has length to cause problems there. I know we think Rin at 125 but 133 an option too

I sure as hell hope this staff is better at evaluating and developing talent than the previous staff was the last couple of years of their tenure. Felt like a lot of highly rated guys would come in and either plateau or even decline relative to their peers. I mean, wasn’t Plott ranked ahead of Starocci and even beat him H2H in high school?

Not sure on the ranking but I do remember Plott beating him. Not sure in which style either.

Full dual now on Youtube:
Just watched some of the match. I do not know who was worse, the refs or the commentators! Fish got screwed the most by the refs but still came out on top! Should have had a takedown at the end of the 2nd and then they don't give the reversal at the end of the 3rd. Absolutely ridiculous. Credit to Fish for not letting it get to him and still getting the W.

What’s the point she’s trying to make?
We have "taken credit" for a couple of programs setting attendance records when we visit this year, including UNI. She's just being salty..mostly because we got on her husband pretty good a few yers ago at GIA so she likes to be snarky about our fan base. All in good fun. She's a pretty funny gal, actually.

Oklahoma st has been the road team 3 times this year when attendance records were broken. And Oklahoma st posted something about it. She's just being petty. Regardless if it was Oklahoma st fans traveling or local people wanting to come out and watch a DT coached team Oklahoma st still played a factor in it. They didn't have an attendance record for Nebraska or other duals besides Iowa St so Oklahoma st played a factor

Between how Schwab acts in the corner and how she acts on twitter, they sure do have my vote for most obnoxious wrestling family (all in good fun). I'm sure they're great people though lol.

And some want Doug as the next Iowa coach. Not sure Iowa wrestling is ready for a 1st lady. The hate they get now would be doubled
When Iowa’s spot opens will they hunt the big fishes like Burroughs or Dake? A lot of people have anointed Spencer as next in line but I don’t see that yet personally.

Burroughs has said a few times he's not interested in coaching. And I'm not sure if Dake is interested either. It will definitely be a national search when the job opens . Pat Pop would be a guy I would go after. He's done and unbelievable job at NC St and he doesn't have near the resources. He can coach and develop guys with the resources at Iowa he would do an amazing job

I feel like the allure of the Iowa program and support could draw interest from one of the big fish + Iowa coaching salary is pretty hefty. It will be interesting to see where Beth looks in a few years.

Schwab or Pat Pop would do well. Erisman should get some looks.

Iowa doesn't need a name, they need the right fit with a staff that can produce...those three have proven they can.

Isn't Spencer Lee considered the automatic next HC there if he wants it? They seem to be using him as a building block currently.
