2025 PGA Tour, The PGA Championship

You wanted Bassmaster Elite? 🤣

IDK WTF Puma is doing… but I feel like he’s either shooting a 64 or a 78 wearing something like that. Zero room for anything in between.

ALSO: is Puma aware that this tournament is in the desert? We’re going with the deciduous trees camo in the DESERT?!

I think a saw a dude at the Wewoka Golf Course wearing that get up.

Phil’s reasoning for why LIV will be successful: you can spend money on tickets, parking, etc. so your kids can take a nap or play putt-putt while you watch the golf on a TV screen.

How — in any way — is any of what he says here a positive?! 😂

Ive been to multiple majors (including the ‘24 Masters), multiple PGA events and one LIV event. The LIV event was 100x more family friendly. My wife had so much fun at the LIV tournament she booked a house on Kiawah last year for Spring Break and Scottsdale this year. Take your family to a LIV event if you want to get them into golf.

It appears Realtree became a sponsor. First it was the Bassmaster Elite jersey. Now camo, wonder on Friday if he shows up in a ghille suit.

Rickie has withdrawn from the WMPO. His caddie said he had bad headaches & body aches last night & had a 103 degree fever this morning.

I did notice him wiping his nose and coughing into his sleeve a bunch yesterday, so I guess he came down with whatever’s been going around.

At least yesterday’s awful round makes more sense now!

That outfit was officially sick!

Guess it was his nap time brought on by a "modicum" of a starch based product.

LIV with live night golf in Riyadh on FOX Sports 1 is interesting.
Interesting as in “it’s interesting that I’ve seen maybe 250 total fans in attendance across hours of coverage?”

Absolutely insane that they have all of these mini nightclubs set up with flashing lights and EDM blaring and yet there’s NO ONE there. Not on the course or in the clubs.

And apparently not on TV, either…

Are there any LIV guys that you can say “they are better golfers now than before they joined LIV”? I can’t think of one.

Bryson won a major last year and Wolff plays better now. Rahm is still a stud. Brooks has also won a major.
Bryson and Brooks and Rahm won majors before. From what you have seen, do you think any any of them are better now than they were before they went to LIV? Bryson spends more time now focusing on gimmicks for YouTube views. Maybe Wolff is better or maybe it just looks like that since he is playing against 53 guys every week. Which about 40 of those guys are KFT level golfers.

I think for some of the younger guys have benefited like Wolff but for Chacarra not so much. CHIII, Bubba and DJ are just collecting checks.

Bryson, Brooks and Rahm are elite and Cam Smith is a notch below them.

Wolff has had some good weeks in LIV, but he’s still extremely up & down… much like he was before he left. But I think he’s at least in a much better headspace.

In 2024, he had three LIV Top 10s… but he also had two Bottom 10s & an average finish of 22nd/54, which is the equivalent of ~58th in a 144 man field.

In 2023 he had three LIV Top 10s… but also had six Bottom 10s & an average finish of 30th/48, which is the equivalent of ~91st (aka MC) in a 144 man field.

On average, he’s actually had fairly close the same success on a per tournament basis in LIV as he did during his last two years on the PGA TOUR (4 Top 5s, 9 Top 25s & 12 MC over 36 events).

The third Signature Event of the PGA TOUR season is this week: the Genesis Invitational. Tiger Woods making his season debut / return from back surgery (also serving as tournament host) & there are 5 Pokes in the 72-man field.

Eckroat
Fowler
Hovland

No north course this week right?

No Tiger due to his mother’s passing. TV down at least 50%.

Only two Pokes (possibly three) in the field for the Mexico Open next week:

Stevens
Ventura
Tway (8th alternate)
Ventura is currently T16 heading into the weekend in Mexico, but Stevens is going to miss the cut.

Also: the field for the Cognizant Classic (formerly the Honda Classic) is out & there are four Pokes in it:

Eckroat
Fowler

When he’s playing well, he’s great! But he’s still super inconsistent, though that’s to be expected at 20 years old…

This is only his 15th made cut in 36 combined PGAT/KFT starts & only his 3rd (in 10 starts) on the PGA TOUR.

His cousin was an all American rugby player for me at Arky St.

Think he may be the youngest to ever win on the KF?

Yep and shot a 59. Hope he wins tomorrow. Hes out driving Campbell by 75 yards every hole. Campbell made everything today
Yep. Won a KFT event in his 7th start as a pro… but missed 4 of 6 cuts before that. Followed that with two Top 25s & then missed 12 of his next 19 cuts… but also threw two Top 10s in there.

In all, he missed 13 of 22 KFT cuts in 2024 but still managed to finish 29th in the final KFT standings & get one of the 30 PGA TOUR cards available.

If he can find some consistency, he should stick around for a long time.

Saw the alert & got excited to see @Jeff J. in the PGA TOUR thread! Should’ve known it was too good to be true…
Yeah, I don't have much of an affinity for any pro sports anymore. MLB but it's a passing interest at best. The rest I just don't pay any attention to.
