Amine 5-0 lost. I was thinking that if anyone could beat Mesenbrink it might be Cam's defense. ce la vie
Yes... It's not an unmitigated disaster or what ever hyperbolic expression someone else wants to use. He's a boom or bust wrestler who just knocked off the 5 seed and lost to the 20 seed. He was a 13 seed and worst case will exit in the blood round which is actually performing to his seed. Really good chance he still AAs too.
Same as Fish. Shot when he should have defended.
Amine holding his match with Mesenbrink to a decision is a far cry from last year where I watched Mesenbrink totally break Amine where it was pitiful with an easy tech maybe I remember 2 techs last year.

LOL, did you watch the match? It's an unmitigated disaster full of tactical errors. Why are people so scared to call it like it is? He would tell you the exact same thing.
I was also afraid of the escape takedown and a heartbreaking loss. Was that Hamiti in that match because I did not recognize him, but he pulled it out. The loss in the Big 12 finals means in the semi's instead of wrestling DeVos he has National Champ from Penn. St. Dean will have to wrestle much better than he did in this match if he is to get into the semi's.

Lenny Pinto getting a tech over Gaitan doesn't help us in the team race at all, but damn if that wasn't entertaining.
I think bearclaw losing might be the separator. Bearclaw lost it for us. lol
Yeah it was a bit ugly, but Kennedy is scrapper who is great at making a mess of a match, Dean did a great job of getting out of a few bad situations and making sure he got the win.
I truly believe he can get the next one, and then between learning from the b12 finals and O'Toole being banged up at the end of a tournament run I think he gets it done.
plots match vs nebraska has to be for second in the team race
Pretty bummed that it doesn't look like we're getting second (Nebraska is showing tf out), but I feel confident that we'll close out like we should and hold 3rd, now I'm rooting for Ohio State to push Iowa out of 4th.

About every third match Dustin gives up a takedown to a lesser wrestler but he always gets more. He gave up his leg a lot in this one
As I said, Holding on while riding from a poor position and he got reversed when he should have just cut him. Up by two with riding time locked and took a week shot.
This. Cut him! He was effectively up 4-0 at that point with riding time. Give up the 1. Reversal is 2 plus riding time coming off. Ugh.
You know...if AJ Ferrari was just a showman like Johnny Hendricks back in the day, I'd say he's exactly what wrestling needs (as I did about Johnny back in the day). But Johnny wasn't a terrible human being like AJ is, so Johnny will always be the superior showman in my book.
