Harbaugh and Gundy and a lesson in patience?

Interesting to look at these two coaches this year. Both were on some and varying levels of the hot seat at their respective Universities.
Jimmy H was 2-4 in the Covid shortened season last year and 8-7 in the Big 10 over the past two years leading into 2021. Maybe the stat most held against him was his 0-5 record against rival OhSt.
Mike G was 14-13 in the big 12 his past three years heading into 2021 and was picked 4th and even 5th in most of all pre-season predictions. He hadn’t beaten OU since 2014 and was only 2-14 against them for his career.
Both had in different ways worn thin a section of power donors and 2021 was going to be critical for each (much more so for JH).
In today’s fickle nature of fast moving CFB coaches are being fired quicker and for less than ever before. The amount of coverage, scrutiny, expectations and money involved has made patience get thrown out the window and yet here are two programs who stayed with their coaches and showed patience both sitting on the precipitous of a conference championship and CFP birth.
I don’t think you would of gotten a CFP prediction from the most diehard fan from either program in 2021 and the odds of what was more likely, being fired or landing in the CFP in December would of been interesting to look at.
Bravo to both coaches for the job done this season and to both programs for showing something that is fleeting in CFB.
Just a thought I had on this Tuesday night haha!
